Are these seats worthy?
Hey guys, trying to upgrade the look of my seats/interior and what better place to start than the seats. The stock Nismo seats are boring in color and they aren't even leather. So I was looking around and I'm trying to find some sort of an upgrade of the entire seat or a possible re-upholstery, but I wouldn't even know where to begin to search for that.
So far I have come across this, they look much better than the stock Nismo's, I'm sure they'd function better for events, and they are leather, or fake leather. NEW 2 Pcs Red & Black Leather Racing Seats RECLINABLE w/ Slider ALL Nissan | eBay Can I get some advice or opinions on this? Will it even fit out of the box with no modifications? Thank you |
honestly seats are a big safety issue, either go with something reliable or dont go with anything at all.
|
I would not get those. Why?
1) the price indicates that the material is garbage and held together with dental floss 2) no name brand I would keep the Nismo seats and see if an upholsterer can redo the material with leather. I'm estimating that a quality job would run around $1500 |
$180 for a pair of seats??...It was nice knowing you man..
|
Stay away from knock-off or cheap seats!! There have been quite a few reported cases of cheapo seats failing in accidents and causing serious injury.
|
Yeesh, does some have any recommended sites that I can go to to check out quality seats? Seems like that is all eBay has.

bride, recaro, status, sparco.

If you dont want to fork out a ton of money but want a nice seat go with a Corbeau FX1 I had them in my 350Z and ran buddy club seat rails and loved them! 14 pounds a piece and were pretty comfy. Over a 2 hour ride and my a$$ was hurting a bit but normal driving daily they were great! |

Thanks everybody. Never bought aftermarket seats before.
|
The cheapest aftermarket seats I would consider are Corbeau. They are pretty good but not on the same level as most Sparco/Status/Bride/Recaro/etc. options.

Currently looking at leatherseats.com
They say they can make leather covers for the 370Z. I went through all of the steps and it looks like it'll come out to about $650 for two-toned white on black seats. Does this seem legit and will this fit the Nismo seats as opposed to non-Nismo seats? |
Do some searches on Clazzio leather seat covers. The seats on my 2005 S2000 are showing some wear so I'm ordering the Clazzio covers for them. They are $250 for the pair and get rave reviews on the S2K forums. I think I've seen them here before once or twice.
These are the covers I'm ordering for my S2k: http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...K/P1020522.jpg They look factory. |
Im not exactly sure if OMP seats are good, ive seen pics of Zs that get traked with them so im guessing they are safe and somewhat inexpensive too.
|
There is a thread with everyone's aftermarket seats if someone can post the link it may give you an idea of what seats are good seats for te z as well as people's thoughts on their seats.

I'll have to call them though. Some of their pictures have touring seats and they also have a base seat as well. If they can't make a cover for a NISMO then I can't do it. |
Houston - there are a number of upholsterers in town. Do a Google search, and then go visit their shops for a quote.
This a project you want a professional to do for you. I've had leather covers in two cars, and you could not tell they weren't OEM. The pros know how to fit them properly. You've got an expensive car; spend a little more to get the quality it deserves and you expect. Mike |

Gonna call the leatherseats.com place tomorrow and see if they can make a cover for Nismo seats. |
synack why do you want leather seats so bad? they wont hold you as well as the carpet ones. also leather covers on factory seats looks like crap. yea some people on here have done it but you can tell its not OEM, i dont care what anyone says.
also be ready to spend some money on quality seats. the nismo seats arnt horrible, and are prob WAY more comfy than MOST aftermarket seats. also stop looking at ebay for car stuff... :\ |

I just like leather so much more than cloth and the styling of this Nismo's aren't even good. If they even thought of a design to implement on these seats for 2 seconds they could have a decent looking pair, and I would be alright with cloth. But since I'm upgrading, I might as well go all the way or not at all. Still debating between aftermarket seats and reskinning the Nismo's. Thanks for the input. |

http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...ta1/6tw004.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...ta1/6tw003.jpg these are my clazzio seat covers... id say its a bang for the buck.... its not real leather only the insert thats preforated in the center is real leather.... i would say 90% of people who look at my z cant tell they are seat covers.... the other good thing about these seat covers... when your air bag deploys... the seat covers rip like what they are suppose to do so the air bag dont go somewhere else and punch you in the ribs or something like that.... ive had them for more than a year now.... and they are holding up pretty good no tears or wear showing YET... if they do rip then ill order another pair... |
They do look nice! Im thinking either to get those or to replace my 40th red seats. My car is DD.
Sim, I like your eBrake SS handle. What is it and where to get it? |

one more thing... you have to cut the stock leather on the e brake to expose the metal shaft to make any after market e brake handle work... ok back to the topic....

Thanks! |
nismo seats are no different than base seats.. same goes for touring except for the seat controls. The differencee is upholstery.. Roadster seats though are completely different and better looking IMO
