Default Rear bumper ordeal

So I recently got rear ended by some careless chick while stopped at a red light and the damage done to my rear bumper was pretty bad. There were scratches everywhere, noticeable dents, and paint chips. The damage done to the girls truck was next to nothing. Sorry I don't have pics at the moment to show, but the reason for this post is because I need feedback for the situation I'm in. I took the car to a body shop and they told me I would get a new oem bumper and they will paint it white using the same paint code nissan uses. The following week I get called by the shop and they tell me to pick up the car. I arrive there and the first thing I'm told is that I need to come back and have the bumper buffed. I'm thinking, why wasn't this done before I was called up? Then I look to see how the bumper came out, I immediatley noticed that the 370z emblem is not straight not only that, I saw a few paint chips on edges next to the tail light. In direct sunlight I was able to notice the difference in color as the newly painted bumper appeared lighter. So in a few days I'm taking the car back to get it buffed but I know that won't help much. What would you guys do in this situation? The shop said they will get a new emblem but what can I do about the minor paint chips and discoloration? The other parties insurance covered the cost but they will not cover my satisfaction of the work done. I bought the car this year and I'm very OCD about every little detail of the car. The value of my car has already diminished because it was in an accident and now I'm dealing with a rear bumper that out stands in my point of view.

I know you are interested in having insurance covered but I would try searching the classified section of the forum to see if there are any OEM painted PW rear bumpers a member is trying to sell as that will be your best bet towards having the best match possible.

But insurance should not be charged more to fix shoddy workmanship, the shop should offer some type of guarantee on their work and should stand behind their service. Try speaking to the shop and saying the paint should match perfectly, shops will expect most costumers not to notice a slight difference because most customers don't care about their car as we might do.

Yeah it's the shop's fault. take it up with them, and if they don't back down buy one on ebay or something. Here's one. That price is a little steep but i've seen a few sell for like $250 including shipping. Then you could maybe resell the one they gave you.

Honestly the bumpers are always a shade or two off on95% of cars out there but as far as chips go I (being a painter by trade) would repaint the bumper. To tell the truth it was probably not preped correctly and those might actually be the paint peeling from where the bumper butts up against the lights>< you are paying make them fix it.

Isnt the PW a two stage paint? Correct me if Im wrong. I would confirm with the shop that this process was done. I got my front bumper repainted, (I know its not PW) and even though the shop really sucked (horrible customer service, delays, over-promising and under delivering), the paint still matched perfect and I am super anal. Just try to reason with the shop non aggressively. It usually works out for the best when you dont lose your cool lol.

PW is a 3 stage color . Stage 1 is a sold white with a basic hue . stage 2 is a almost transparent coat that pots on the pearl effect stage 3 is the clear coat that makes it shine and gives it depth. the problem in matching this is that there are many variables. 1 being the actual tint of the white base. the other being how many coats of pearl. Tri coat colors are incredibly difficult to panel match even under perfect conditions.
