Anyone thinking about swaping out 370Z seats?

I know a few have mentioned it. I don't know if doing so compromises the integrity of the car in the event of an accident. However I've heard a few incidences where people have had a 2 point harness setup and they've been in an accident and walked away. I don't know the technicalities that add up to the level of safety, but it may not be such a bad idea...on the flip side I don't know how practical it is?

I was already thinking about swapping the seats when I used to own the 350. I didn't do that.
I think it's good as the stock seats weight too much. Those of 350 were more or less 35kg each (don't know in pounds) x 2.. 70kg.. too much!
But they were fantastic, you could adjust perfectly the driving position and that's why I didn't swap them.
Let's see those of 370. And then I'll decide what to do.

RCZ 12-08-2008 05:24 PM

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be swapping out the seats for some more sporty ones....

I'd definitely have to swap out the seats, especially after having spent the past almost 3 years in my Evo's Recaros.

Those are hot. I'd have to go with red, however.

That's ridiculous! Probably not comfy for a daily driver.

They are actually very comfortable... I know a guy that has them in his STI, and they are not bad...

Hunh, that's interesting. I don't know why I automatically thought the opposite. Upon more research I also believe these seats might be safer compared to the stock seats.

cstr_Cali 12-15-2008 10:23 PM

Here are some ideas....

Recaro Sportster CS

Sparco
Milano Prestige

M.Bonanni 12-16-2008 05:54 PM

BRIDE seats for sure!

I will probably go with these, or maybe red depending on the color I end up with...

http://www.bride-jp.com/seat_r/cr1ags.gif

Oh and they are $1478/each without rails...

The seats look nice, but there are so many things on the car I would upgrade before even considering seats.

First though, I need to actually sit in the 370....the new seats are supposed to be pretty good.

cstr_Cali 12-17-2008 03:16 PM

Since I'm thinking about being able to fit at all in the car seats are a major consideration.

LiquidZ 12-21-2008 01:41 AM

A friend has some Bride's in his 350z. Its such a pain in the *** to get into and out of the car.

3SeventyZ 12-21-2008 07:20 AM

Im sure they will eventually be switched out for some brides.

Sergio98 01-18-2009 10:04 PM

I bought my 370Z base with Sport pkg. I regret not getting the touring for the leather seats. Has anyone upholstered the base seats with leather?

RCZ 01-18-2009 11:24 PM

Sergio I'll sell you my leather seats :)

Cown3d 01-19-2009 08:28 AM

Bride ftw...got one as my driver seat

fixed back at that and it honestly is really comfy

msl82 01-19-2009 10:51 AM

Are these aftermarket seat really worth it?

What is the real advantage over the stock ones?

Does it grips you while you corner and also comfortable enough for daily driving?

And how would it effect on the safety, would it hold up when you get into brutal accidents?

I never sat or had one of these Bride seats....

Cown3d 01-19-2009 10:54 AM

1. they definatly hold you alot more snug
2. you get the right one and it will be comfy
3. they are safer then stock

Depends on what you are using them for.

Weight savings and lateral support for the most part. And of course looks :).

Most of them will offer more lateral grip than the stockers and some of them are also pretty comfortable, but not any more comfortable than the stock seats are.

All of their seats are just as safe as the stockers with one exception. For the fixed back seats to be safe, they need to be used with 5-point harnesses, and a roll bar. The fixed back seats aren't designed to work with stock 3-Point belts.

Yes, Gray. They look surprisingly good...

smurfblu13 01-21-2009 02:05 PM

I really like the Recaro Pole Postions or similar seat. The Bride seats having all the Bride text all over them a little much for me. Good looking seat besides that though. Can't argue with the weight savings and added safety and keeping you where your supposed to be out on the twistys.

M.Bonanni 01-21-2009 02:08 PM

Threw one of my Zeta IIIs in the 370Z yesterday to see if the 350Z rails fit (which they didn't), but you get an idea of what they will look like in the car...
