So what exactly does the clear do when sprayed over areas that have been sprayed with black plasti dip? Does it give it a glossy appearance?

Let me know what you think of the rims. I will eventually get nice 19"s or 20"s but this is it for now.. $$$$

I'd imagine not, especially considering how cheap this stuff is. But if it does then this stuff would be the ultimate clear coat....

I did a image search for clear plastidip and found a couple pictures.

Looks like it comes out rather cloudy and textured.

Or did you mean a proper clear coat?

Cool, thanks for doing the search! I think I'll bypass using the clear. I really would like a glossy look to any bits that I spray, and with the matte look of the Plasti Dip...I think I'll just paint 'em proper.

OR you could spray the clear plasti-dip, then spray whatever color you want, then spray clear coat over that. Then peel off when you're done.... Man this stuff rocks....

I'd like to see a visual representation of a successful spray and removal of that very situation, good sir!

I've been curious about it too. I bought some glossy black car enamel as well as some glossy clear coat. I just sprayed the underside of my wheelbarrow with three coats of black plastidip, and three coats of the glossy black enamel. I'm about to put on the clear coat.
When it's done I'll take pictures of what it looks like as well as the removal process.

i've read somewhere that spraying a clear coat over the plasti-dip makes it more difficult to peel off... has anyone mentioned that here yet?

looking fwd to the wheelbarrow pics! haha

plasti dip is really hard to remove if you paint over it. Even if you do thick coats its breaks off in small pieces. If you do thin coats it would be very almost impossible to peel off.

I plastidipped my emblems last week and the lower part of the rear valence this morning. Thought the matte black would give a nice contrast to the glossy black.

I can imagine it getting harder, but it won't be impossible.

My_third_Z 08-25-2011 09:21 PM

I'll let you guys know tomorrow. I did three coats of each product, and will attempt to peel it off.
