someone explain this to me...
why is the "gtr-button" a "mod" on our cars?!? honestly... is it just so when people get in your z you can point to it and say:
Z owner - "this is from a GTR!" average joe - "....uhhh:ugh2:". imo opinion it sticks out like a sore thumb and doesn't match anything in our cars. whyyy do people do this? |
I thought the same thing, then when I took my dash apart to get it CF'ed I went ahead and got one. I just like to say NEVER PUSH THE RED BUTTON! GTR is never mentioned. I have no red inside but I think it blends in just fine.
|
Doesn't make much sense to me either. I actually preffer the stock start/stop button...It lights up!!! that's pretty sweet IMO!!! lol

People just want something different. If the z came with a red start button then they would want a white button. The same thing applies with our rear fog light. If it came red people would darken it. It's really not a big deal to me.
|
I dont have it but i am planning to get one. I think the main reason why people get it is cause the white start button looks dull in comparison. And red matches well with black if you have the black interior.
Mostly based on personal prefrence anyways. |
I have a red car...button looks cool but I don't think I'd spend 40 bucks on a new button.
|
I just ordered one today, I'll let you know what the hype is all about after I install it.

It def looks better with my black interior. The stock one looks like it belongs more in an Altima. I could care less if it was made for a GT-R. It's not like it has a GT-R logo.
Also, it does light up the same by the way....well not exactly the same, but still Another option would be to change the LED color http://www.the370z.com/519434-post29.html |
oh it lights up!! i didn't know that. I retract my statement.
|
Not a fan.

I think it's just a cool little mod... and it doesn't light up like a huge orange dot.
When people ask if that is stock, I say it's from the GTR and have always had "neat" or "oh cool" responses. Cool points for me please. kthnxbye |
I liked the red colour of it when I bought and now with all black alcantara it really stands out. The red shade is very shinny compared to dull white.
|
I got one cus it came with a free twin turbo kit.
i lie of course. : ( i has neither. |

I just installed mine and it really does add a bit of contrast and color to an otherwise black interior. I don't really care about whether it comes from a GTR, but it looks cool and gives the interior some flair. I wouldn't consider it a mod though...
|
I pulled it to sell my white one for$5 more on the GT-R forums.

Let's just say "the grass is greener on the other side". If the Z came with a red ignition button, people would be buying the clear/orange lit button as a mod...just like some Z owners buy JDM clear tail lights, and some Impreza owners put red overlays over their clear tails...
For me, my 40th have red accents inside, which go well with the red ignition button. |

The red button looks bad ***. I personally wanted a flip switch (like what fighter jets have) but the GTR button was the closest I could get.. Lol

to each their own... I like mine the way it is, but for others they like it, so go with it.
|
to me, the gtr buttom feels more solid and firm. thats why i changed mine. and it was a cheap mod.
|
A sports car should have a red start button, end of story!
