Cost of full-body mod + new paint?

I now have a fairly large hole in the front of my car, and a small dent in the back (driver error, unfortunately). I could just replace the front, have the dent pulled out, and have the two repainted.....

Or I could take this opportunity and run with it, get a full-body mod and a new paint job.

What would be the approximate cost of:
1. The full-body kit.
2. Lime-green paint with purple highlights.
3. Purple wheels (I guess this would be annodized?).

I'm interested in low cost to high cost, so thay I have a ballpark figure of what it would cost.

Thanks, all!

:icon14:

Depends on the brand of body kit on how much that would cost. Just consider that a full paint job on the car will cost at least $4,000, but probably more.

Then factor in the cost of your kit + the molding necessary to prep it for paint.

Powdercoating a set of rims will usually run you at least $100 per wheel, but usually more. I'd estimate at least $1000 including dismounting and remounting the tires.

I would budget no less than $10,000 depending on the body kit, but most likely it will be a good bit more than that.

Lime green paint with purple wheels......... I hope your kidding.

earwicker7 06-02-2011 12:35 PM

No, I'm not kidding, although maybe lime green is a little brighter than what I'm thinking. I'm not painting it to impress people... I could give a rat's *** what you think about it. I saw a Lamborghini with this paint job and it was the coolest looking car I've ever seen.

Jamaica 06-02-2011 12:38 PM

What would be the approximate cost of:
1. The full-body kit.

-Full body kit painted runs around 1100-1500 installed and painted.
2. Lime-green paint with purple highlights.

-im guessing you want your headlights painted?

3. Purple wheels (I guess this would be annodized?).
-To paint or annodize it about 100 a wheel.

phelan 06-02-2011 01:49 PM

1100 to 1500 covers only the install and paint...still gotta pay for the full body kit.

I guess you are serious, so here is the likely cost.

1. The full-body kit.

Depends on the kit. A real Powerhouse Amuse kit for example, could run you around $5,000. Replica around $2,000? A full Stillen kit could run you around $1,200.

2. Lime-green paint with purple highlights.

It's a custom paint, so price will vary depending on the paint you use. A high quality paint job that includes all the sills and under the hood could run as high as $8,000-$10,000 to paint the entire car. You can probably find a shop that can do it cheaper, but as with anything, you get what you pay for.

3. Purple wheels (I guess this would be annodized?).

You can probably find aftermarket wheels that meet your criteria. High quality wheels can run anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 depending on size. You'll probably need another $1,200 or so for tires, mounting and other misc. stuff.

370z owner 06-02-2011 02:38 PM

its all depends on what it is that you are trying to achieve.

if you do a stock repaint job it will be alot more cost efficient than to go with a completely new color.

im getting my car painted atm with amuse body kit and fenders (thnx Jamaica) and the paint it self is costing me 3.2k. i did the body work myself for the most part so saved a few hundred bucks.

but to add everything in prospective you are looking at around 6-8k with the price of body kit included.

Lime green + gun metal headlights/rims would be good.. the purple.. eh :/ have fun with it.

earwicker7 06-03-2011 11:58 AM

Yikes, this is looking expensive... d'oh!

I may just go with replacing the front bumper; the rear bumper only has a small ding in it, so it can probably be salvaged.

I'm going to swing by the Nissan dealer tomorrow and see what the prices are like for the bumper, then I'll get a quote for a full paint job from a local shop, and I'll go from there. I wouldn't be half surprised if Nissan charges the same price for a replacement bumper as a full body kit lol.

Any recommendations for some light-weight wheels?

phelan 06-03-2011 12:11 PM

Anytime you want a full body kit, and then a full repaint of the car, you're already looking at blowing an 8-10k hole in your wallet.

Light weight wheels - depends on the price range. Go look in the wheels/tires section for suggestions.

Obviously....it didnt come in lime green with purple accents...DUH!:ughdance:

scott982 06-05-2011 01:56 PM

You are looking at around $6,000 just to R&I everything and repaint using quality materials like PPG Envirobase, Spies Hecker, etc. Doing a color change correctly is a ton of work and everything has to be pulled apart. Then add all the body labor to fix the damage on the car, to get the body kit to fit perfectly and you are looking at another $2,000 at least.

Im an estimator at a large dealership body shop and that is my best guess for pricing without writing an estimate or seeing the car. Sure you can get it done cheaper but the quality of the job will suffer.

Gunzero 06-05-2011 03:36 PM

Please stare at this picture for a good while.. then tell me that you still want this color scheme..

agreed lmao

how about a dark dark gloss purple

earwicker7 06-06-2011 11:49 AM

Hmm, the green with black wheels does look pretty good...

Does anyone know of a good body kit that is street friendly (as opposed to some which look like they are so low that one pothole would rip the front half of the car off lol). I had originally looked at the Hot Wheels kit, but a friend of mine pointed out how low the front bumper is... it wouldn't last a day in Los Angeles.

if you're worried about it that much, then just get a lip and be done with it.

i drive with the amuse kit around los angeles just fine...few scrapes here and there but nothing serious.

well lime green is always fun.

Verde Ithaca is my favorite color for a car, however make sure the car is aggressive enough to sport it.

ballparks and I think Im going on low end of first two.

$3000 for authentic body kit(full)
$6000 paint job(assuming your looking at gallardo or murcielago paint codes)
$3500(quality rims)
$800(rims custom powdercoated a gloss purple(special paint code again))

After all is said in done I bet, out the door, youd be paying around $15k

Gunzero 06-06-2011 04:50 PM

Paint the body lime green, get carbon fiber accents (lip, side, rear addons), and gunmetal/black wheels and call it a day.
:p
Haha @ joker and hulk comment

K so the first picture is how I feel about green lol drive it off a cliff.

On a serious note, I simply dislike this color. If your serious about a one-off color then pick something else other than green.

I perfer the following over green

If crazy is your style then I say Lambo Orange... With some sick big lip rims gunmetal not black...

b1adesofcha0s 06-07-2011 07:20 AM

I think it looks good in green.

earwicker7 06-07-2011 01:02 PM

So the first shop I called (on a recommendation from the best detailer I've found) wants $10,000 to paint it a new color. On to the next shop... any recommendations for a good place that won't financially rape me in the Los Angeles area?

b1adesofcha0s 06-07-2011 01:07 PM

Have you considered doing a vinyl wrap? A full vinyl wrap should cost around $2-3k and would be a lot cheaper than painting it. Also, it's removable and protects the cars original paint

Gunzero 06-07-2011 01:12 PM

expect prices around that price for a full repaint.

I disagree. I like the green. I think the green on that model is :yum:, but to each their own.

You might want to call this place:

Auto Werks Body & Paint - El Monte, CA

Seems pretty reputable and they quoted me $3500-4000 for painting my car. Can't personally speak for their work but reviews seem promising.
