3 gauges on dashboard

what i dont understand is the last gauge from the left on the dashboard, the first two are useful, oil temp, battery voltage but its the last one i wish nissan would change which is the clock, now i can understand those that dont have nav it might be of some use, but those who have nav we already have the time displayed on the nav screen, i just wish there were something more useful there like tire pressure or something of that sorts, i guess that people without nav rather have tire pressure gauge instead of the time gauge loool, just a though thats been going through my head, what do u guys think, or do u think its just fine the way it is, would love to hear some opinions from the z community.

houkouonchi 05-19-2011 02:31 AM

I think the clock is useful. To be honest I would rather change the battery voltage one with an oil pressure.

zuperman 370 05-19-2011 02:36 AM

battery voltage one is also useful, clock is useful as well but im just sayin that tire pressure or as u mentioned oil pressure gauge will be more useful

docaam 05-19-2011 02:55 AM

yeah same here i hardly see the battery meter and it doesnt change that much as well lol

zuperman 370 05-19-2011 03:06 AM

maybe so but u never know when it might come in handy lool

mikeSS 05-19-2011 03:19 AM

the clock is pretty lame

ragtop_rob 05-19-2011 07:05 AM

I love the clock - it reminds me of my previous 240, 260 and 280z's. It is very retro and represents the heritage of the Z (maybe I am getting old)

whoady4shoady 05-19-2011 07:07 AM

I like the clock personally.

Daveski38 05-19-2011 07:53 AM

I miss tire pressure and digital speed. To me it was easier to check speed from the gauges than the dash.

I also miss the fact that I could check each tire's pressure before getting out of the neighborhood

Econ 05-19-2011 08:01 AM

i dont care about the gauges, i want heads up display....

EgoTrip 05-19-2011 08:04 AM

Great post, ragtop_rob. I was about to mention that it's sort of a throw-back to the classic Z's. In fact, I think it would be really cool to have an orange LCD display so you could switch between digital and analog clock faces.

Cmike2780 05-19-2011 08:35 AM

I would rather have an A/F guage or Analog clock in that pod. More importantly, I wish we had an analog fuel guage....or a full color lcd in place of that silver & orange eyesore on the dash cluster.

Is that an actual running clock in a 240??? Amazing.

onzedge 05-19-2011 10:55 AM

I think that the clock should be incorporated in the "computer" display and that there should be an oil pressure gauge there instead.

RedBullRR 05-19-2011 11:10 AM

I wish they kept the multifunctional 1 like my 350Z had. I also miss not having an oil pressure gauge. It would always let me know when i was down a quart.

zuperman 370 05-19-2011 11:17 AM

oil pressure would be useful as well

007MI6 05-19-2011 11:21 AM

I think it would be really slick if that pod had interchangeable gauges, that could be customized depending on the individual.

kenchan 05-19-2011 11:25 AM

yah, the 3 guages should be just a LCD and user defineable what they want displayed.

that is the future of all guages, i think.

Cmike2780 05-19-2011 11:28 AM

The LFA cluster is one of my favorites.

See, i woudnt want an LCD Guage.

And yes, I think the Clock is stupid also...

edub370 05-19-2011 04:08 PM

oil pressure gauges are worth there wight in gold. they shoulda gotten rid of that volt gauge and replaced it with an op gauge at least

you sound like a :crying: waaa waaa. :D ;)

i like my analog inifiniti clock in my G. :p

Kingbaby 05-19-2011 04:29 PM

sucks!

I'd get tired of the clock too, has anyone tried swapping them out?

Dwight Frye 05-19-2011 06:54 PM

It would look a lot better if it were an analog clock with numerals and hands to match the other gauges color scheme.

Hey now!!! No crying here! lol

I like analog guages...

I like analog guages...

Analog gauges are easier to read quickly and are superior to digital because of this reason.

kenchan 05-20-2011 02:54 PM

Well in my head LCD will display the gauge like an analog guage (if u prefer) yet you can change color or size of font or monitoring range etc. Just because it uses LCD does not mean it needs to display digital numbers like in the 80's. :D

that is the future of guages using high resolution LCD's.

DIGItonium 05-21-2011 12:38 AM

After buying the Depo gauges, I was informed about the 4-in-1 gauges. Wish I knew about it earlier. You guys can find various combination of the 4-in-1 gauges.

I think that would be brilliant. A multifunction harness behind the dash and a choice of gauge combinations.

:iagree:...Looks out of place with all the gauges, ESPECIALLY (as mentioned above) if you have the Nav unit....

JayYoon 05-23-2011 02:38 PM

i wish there were couple more things... like temp outside... lol... tire pressures arent bad either...

wilsonp 05-23-2011 05:21 PM

I almost always have outside temp on the left MFD.

If the clock was analog, I'd think I like it better. Otherwise it is just annoying that it is a minute different from the Nav and drifts.

A better driver oriented gauge would have been nicer.

2ndChance 05-24-2011 01:33 AM

I think an analog clock would make the Z look too classy, like infinity's.

But If I could change it, would be a chronograph with controls in the steering wheel. So we can measure our launch and track times!! Any one likes this idea?

wilsonp 05-24-2011 05:04 PM

Nissan 370Z Sport Chrono option? :)

If it came with the Nismo tune like the Cayman S, that would be a nice option...

Slow night watching football, so I'm just surfing old threads.

I've got nav and simply turned off the clock display (on the nav screen) since it drove me crazy seeing the two clocks not synchronized.

chases2302 08-12-2012 02:20 AM

what sizes are the guages?

The triple guage is a pod of three. they cannot be separated. I replaced all three and used 52mm in order to use the stock silver bezel rings. if you do not plan to make it look stock then you could use any size you would want.

I did the same...

VDC_OFF 08-13-2012 02:02 PM

get a turbo and throw a boost gauge in there!
