Tint looks good, but I'm not a fan of the graphics.

mrcoolguyface 09-24-2011 07:32 AM

Graphics.... You're joking right? LOL

I find it's nicer at night driving with a lightly tinted windshield. 35 would be really dark for a windshield

Not issue at all with visibility at all during night driving, not too dark, just perfect as I don't feel the stares as much this way.

thestclair 09-26-2011 10:19 PM

First post to this forum. Bought my 370Z in May. Tinted my windows the next day. I've always had a little darker than they should - 5% on the rear, 20% on the doors. Skipped the stripe across the windshield. Hint: there's a power window reset. Found that out afterwards. Spent a day rolling up the driver window from passenger side.

During the day its like having sunglasses on.
During the night you can't even tell it's tinted.

It comes in handy at all times. I hate people coming towards you with high beams on.

Question for you guys. I got them done Saturday and as i went to leave i noticed a bunch of bubbles on the rear window. I asked the guy what was up with them and he said they are normal because of moisure and that they would go away in up to 10 days. Ive heard conflicting things on this, some say its totally normal, some say to go back right away. Any opinions? I figure if he told me to wait the 10 days, ill wait and then go back. Some bubbles have gone away but there are still a bunch...

Bad, fogginess effect to be expected as tint dries but no bubble. They messed up the tint job.

yea thats why i asked him right when i saw them and was a little surprised he told me it was normal and to wait...

birdmanx1 09-27-2011 12:35 PM

I didn't have bubbles on my tinted cars.

Pelican170 09-27-2011 01:26 PM

yea well after giving it a closer look, I noticed several scratches in the film on each window. I am going to go back and complain. I want it redone...

Halcom2 09-29-2011 09:19 PM

Took about 2 weeks for all the bubbles to disappear. Otherwise perfect and no complaints.

nmjaxx9 09-30-2011 11:36 AM

looks good

Pelican170 10-06-2011 12:10 PM

So, i had to get my tint redone because the shop didnt know what they were doing. I get the car yesterday, looks like they did a much better job so I leave and go home... I go home to give it a better look, and I see this 3 inch cut/scratch in my passenger side window on the outside! I can feel it with my fingernail and the cut follows the curve of the window. I tell the shop about it and now they are denying it was them and they said they dont use razor blades.... So now I have to replace the window or live with this scratch (with tints and sun shining on it, looks white)... I could kill them!

birdmanx1 10-06-2011 12:15 PM

Hmm not good Pelican. Take pics of the damage, receipts, any proof of your visit for the second time. Get a friend who has the appropriate lawyer verbiage and threaten the shop to report to BBB and leave bad reviews on the web. You should have them replace your glass at a place of your choice and reimburse you for tint work. FYI windshield for our car is around $1200 unless you want to get the cheap kind.

Yea, well fortunately I have emails showing they retinted. I am going to call them shortly because now he is not returning my emails to tell him I have talked to 3 glass places for quotes. Im going to take pics tonight and having the glass replaced tomorrow. Im going to keep the glass also just for proof to see that the scratch went along with the curve of the window. Then going to tell him to at least pay for the cost of glass or im going to small claims court and BBB... $380 for the passenger window replaced...

Heres an iphone pic of the scratch...

birdmanx1 10-06-2011 12:35 PM

I would probably hold off on fixing any glass and have them commit to paying for anything/paying for damages first. That's just me. Good luck with the process.

Yea I hear ya, but the way that shop is acting, I doubt they will even talk to me again and at this point, im so frustrated i just want it fixed and ill bring it somewhere else to get the 1 window retinted.

Question, do you think that if another shop retints the one window, their is any difference in matching since they are probably from another film maker? Make sense?

birdmanx1 10-06-2011 01:05 PM

If you go with same % and same film, you won't see any difference.

Well, seems like around here every shop uses a different manufacturer of film. I obviously would be getting the same %

If you want a reputable tint shop and are willing to travel to Hartford then go to Total Tints in Hartford they did my tints, no problem first time and guaranteed satisfaction. Ask for Manny and mention my name  or just tell him the guy with the red 370 sent you. :icon17:

Amuse370z 10-06-2011 06:52 PM

I think I'm the only one whos this narcissistic. But "its not the car but the one driving it" I want people to know whos driving this car.

Looks good. Is that a very large strip on the front? or to me its large, just hard to see from the angle...

Its bottom most point is the bottom of the dot matrix where the rear view mirror is.

mrcoolguyface 10-07-2011 05:22 PM

Tint shop wrapped my top

Went back today to my local Shop and had her wrapped... Went with matte black, not a fan of glossy IMO matte looks better, and Im not planning on going CF anywhere else on the car so matte made sense! Shes coming along slow but sure IMHO.. Wrap + 15% all around tint on the Brilliant silver
