Angel Eyes

I recently contacted 180° Custom about their Dual LED Orb kit, and Alex installed them on my headlights today; he actually just stopped by and finished installing the headlights back onto the car, and holy sh*t: these lights are insane. They're waaaayyyy brighter in person - to the point where you could possibly drive with the HID's off! Here's a preliminary pic (since my car is really dirty, and my phone's camera decided to mutiny against me, so better pics in the future):

Serious props to Alex and the 180° crew!:tiphat:

Junior370z 04-07-2011 11:18 PM

iceman21_23 04-07-2011 11:32 PM

looks nice do you know if they are using the same amount of led's for both rings? cause wouldn't the top ones seem to be a bit brighter?

zrider 04-08-2011 03:11 AM

leighspped 04-08-2011 08:35 AM

price is prob $$$$

Dwight Frye 04-08-2011 05:22 PM

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to get one of those vinyl sun shade strips to put across the top of your windshield with big neon letters that say LOOK AT ME ?

waaaasabi 04-08-2011 05:30 PM

Thanks for looking guys! I just got off work and it's raining so I can't take any day pics right now (sory tsolin01). Kielbasa and GZ3, if it clears up later tonight I'll definitely do some distance shots. One of the problems was that the LED's were so bright that at a distance my phone camera couldn't pick up the individual rings; it just became a blur of light.

Thanks! Price was $400 for everything installed.

The top ring is definitely smaller than the ring around the main projector shroud, but brightness is the same.

Since I'm local to the 180 guys, I drove over to their shop where they removed the headlights then Alex drove by my block a couple of hours later and re-installed everything. Downtime was only about 4-5 hours, so it wasn't too bad.

I looked into it and it would've cost about the same for a custom LOOK AT ME vinyl + installation. I would also argue that the car in itself screams LOOK AT ME.

Mr&Mrs 04-08-2011 05:40 PM

Cool I will have some pics of mine up next week. I want my car to scream look at me as well. =) I only got the Single Orb though. High Five!

tsolin01 04-08-2011 06:49 PM

Definitely thinking about this mod but just the single orb. I'm assuming the brightness makes it really visible during the day too?

I haven't yet been able to test the LEDs during an ideal/bright day, but I'd say your assumption is correct judging by the light output that I've seen thus far in cloudy and dusky/dark conditions. IMO the single orb would be an extremely good-looking mod as well; I only went with the dual orb because I wanted to even out the rings - I originally felt that having one large ring would be too "strange" or isolated, but after looking at the completed dual-orb mod, I think the single orb would also look great. Also, dual-orb = MOAR LOOK AT ME.

Red__Zed 04-08-2011 09:52 PM

Pretty cool look.

A.J@CarbonSignal 04-09-2011 04:32 AM

Looking good. Would love to see more pics.

Shadax 04-09-2011 04:00 PM

Can someone explain this to me? The angel eye looks REALLY cool, but someone mentioned not having headlights?

Is there any type of headlight I could get that when just the parking light is on you can see the halos, and then when switched to headlight mode you have headlights?

waaaasabi 04-09-2011 05:57 PM

I was finally able to get some decent pictures today; I wasn't able to get any distance shots because someone came by and parked in front of me almost immediately after I started taking pictures (its the nature of the city, I guess). But anyways, here are some daytime shot, enjoy!

That looks soooo sick! I am curious about how the LEDs last long-term as well as whether you experience any condensation inside the headlights since the OEM seal has been broken.

Ps. Am I wrong, or did you put hyper white in your side markers as well?

tsolin01 04-10-2011 01:22 AM

Looks great! Now I really want these. :icon17: The lights get resealed so condensation shouldn't be an issue, 180 has a warranty so I'm sure it won't be an issue. Haven't heard anyone have any issues so far.

FastPaced 04-10-2011 10:05 PM

Nice! I want to get dual Orbs, too. I PM'd these guys and emailed but no response, yet =/ I live in the city, too, so hopefully, I can get work like this done asap!

Ish 04-10-2011 10:18 PM

First, props to a fellow veteran from NYC (Brooklyn for me), & even more props for having a Z in the city. I didn't get my license till I had to when I reached my first duty station back in 93...

If I can plan it with the 180 guys, I'll order a complete set & have them ship it to me when I get back home around Thanksgiving. That way, I can swap out the headlights quick fast snce I'll only be home for the normal 30 days.

Thanks for posting the pics.

You still have your headlights. The Angel Eyes are an addition to the headlights. And usually when you get them installed there is a switch added to the interior of the car that allows you to control them. You can have the Angel Eyes on along with the headlights or just the Angel Eyes on. That's how mine work. Only Demon Eyes can't work with headlights on.

Also, what state would pass a car for inspection without headlights? :icon14:

Red__Zed 04-10-2011 11:21 PM

New pics look good. This is very tempting.

docaam 04-11-2011 12:57 AM

Indeed very tempting

I had 180 do my headlights previously (painted the housing black) and there wasn't any condensation after that; I haven't had any condensation issues thus far after this mod either. And yes you're right - I had the amber side markers replaced with LEDs after I got my headlights painted

Where in the city are you? Their shop is located in Brooklyn. I'm going to be heading back into Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon, PM me if you can't reach them by then.

Wow, I didn't join until 2003! From one veteran to another, major props to you, good sir :tiphat:. And 30 days leave?? What branch are you?

In order to get the rings flush, they have to dremel the OEM shroud, but that's about it. If you do the dual orb, they have to cut your turn signal housing in order to replace it with a projector turn signal.

FastPaced 04-11-2011 09:42 AM

I'm in the Bronx.

happytheman 04-12-2011 01:32 PM

Can you turn them off, or do they always remain on. You mentioned they can be on w/ headlights or w/out headlights...but what about completely off? Also, how do they look w/ headlights on?

I'm down for more pics if you care to share!!:tiphat:

Yup, you can turn them off; they're just wired to the parking lights. Ergo, if your headlights are on, then they'll be on as well, and if you turn your entire headlights off, they'll go off. With the headlights on, they do just overshadowed a bit (the HIDs are quite powerful), but the rings are still visible. I will try to get more pictures soon; am swamped with work, sorry!

happytheman 04-13-2011 10:25 PM

I wantz! :excited:

Ish 04-14-2011 05:25 PM

Wa, I left the military in '07. Uncle Sam got his pound of flesh from me. Now, I'm a defense contractor making the good $$, which allows me to buy the nice stuff. The leave policy for the company I work for recently changes to 30 days off every 6 months, so that means I need to locate a vehicle from one of the local dealers, & get the headlights ordered from 180 before I fly out of Kuwait. I'm planning to do a good amount of stuff to it in that 30 day window, so every day counts. I
