Body Kit + City driving conditions Question

Hi guys I'm kind of new at this so sorry if its a stupid question. I've been looking into the Amuse Body Kit and it seems like the body is VERY VERY close to the ground. Since I will be mostly driving in the city I was wondering if the ramps/speed bumps would damage/hit the front bumper? I'm not quite sure if the body kit is height adjustable or is it made for track conditions only. It looks really awsome and I would love to get it but if it makes driving in the city for an everyday car a chore then I would reconsider.

Thanks any help would be appreciated!

it seems like it is very close to the ground? correction - it is close to the ground haha

but driving it around isn't too bad imo. be careful taking ramps, avoid stupidly high speedbumps when possible, etc. and you'll be fine.

unless u drive like jamaica, in which case kiss ur front bumper goodbye :roflpuke2:

Yes the side skirts and the front bumper are slow even at stock height. The kit still looks good thou gotta becareful how you drive.

In so cal theres everything I drive it all the time unlike the other amuse guy cough cough mr 6k

lol so going down city ramps onto the main roads should be no problem? Cause I remember watching some video with the Lexus LFA where you can hear the impact of the front bumper as he exists the dealership LOL I hope that wouldnt happen with the amuse.

i've scraped a few times. no big deal to me though. again, if you play the angles correctly, and plan your route out in advance to avoid the really big drop offs in ramps, etc., you'll have no problem with this kit.

lol thanks for all the information guys :D hopefully I will be joining the amuse club sometime in the future! DAMN its expensive though

TreeSemdyZee 03-14-2011 07:15 PM

I scrape the front on stock height and stock body.

christian370z 03-14-2011 07:21 PM

The car in the picture is slammed, that ride height would be hard to live with even on the stock body with the little flaps on the front bumper removed.

christian370z 03-14-2011 07:24 PM

Here are a few shots I took of Phelan and Kevin's Amused Zs for your viewing pleasure, their drops are pretty reasonable and in my opinion would not be unreasonable if you are a careful driver.

It really depends on your specific drive. I wound up losing the front lip on my s2k and wasn't even terribly low, even though I was a pretty careful driver.

Econ 03-14-2011 09:35 PM

just do it and be careful like the others have said...

and if you think those Z's are low...i saw one of these in new york city the other day...

I am pretty happy with amuse height, only thing are the sides which sometimes scrapes on bumps. Had a sunline lipkit which sits way low then Amuse

Waiz 03-15-2011 12:25 AM

Are you going to daily drive this kit? Probably not the best idea given how long it is..

Cafiax 03-15-2011 07:15 PM

Well I have a civic which i drive to Work etc but I usually drive the 370 to anywhere except for work. Does the amuse come colourless and Il have to get a paint job to match my pearl white? or would i get them already painted?

Red__Zed 03-15-2011 07:28 PM

Got to get it painted/blended.

Waiz 03-15-2011 07:49 PM

You'll be fine just don't daily it and do like Phelan and geta good car washer :icon17:

I switch between the Z with the amuse kit and my r6. Its only been a couple days and while I havent scraped the front bumper, I have definitely scraped the side skirts already. Nothing too bad, all underneath, but I think scraping is almost inevitable with kits this low, especially if you DD it, no matter HOW careful you are.

I figure ill get at least the side skirts repainted every other year or so, depending on how bad it is, but its not a bad price to pay for a kit that looks like pure sex everytime you look at it.

I could show you if you want... I live around laughed.

PM me if you would like :)

Hello.

This is my first post here.

I currently drive a 2000 Celica GTS. I was considering getting a 370Z in 2014. I started doing some research on body kits and have found the Amuse kit to be best looking in my humble opinion.

I was wondering if I could ask a favor of those with this kit and stock height? Would you mind getting the old measuring tape and let me know how far the front of the bumper and the middle of the skirt are off the ground. Then I would be able to compare that to my Celica to see if I will scrape. My Celica is a daily driver.

Thank you in advance for your help.

PS. Here is a pic of my car.

Glokwork 06-21-2012 05:32 PM

My amuse skirts are are being painted today and I'm pretty worried about tearing them up. I'm only on springs and during the test fit I only had 3 inches of clearance on the skirts. I'm almost positive I will have to now avoid even the smallest speed bumps.

Amuse370z 06-21-2012 05:33 PM

This kit wouldnt look right without a drop imo.

You gotta pay to play.

How low do you figure the front is?

You are probably right. Is the Sport Package Z lowered compared to standard?

snea 06-21-2012 07:36 PM

I just have the front and have only scraped a couple of times when my 300 lb friend was in the passenger seat. Just learn which roads are good and try to stick to them, otherwise be very cautious when on roads you aren't sure about (especially residential and back roads) and when you are pulling in and out of any parking lot.

Also, make sure you save the stock pieces! If anything did happen it'll be much less devastating if you can simply put the stock bumper and sides back on.

cooltoy 06-21-2012 07:48 PM

That's the only way to drive these cars.

My Celica front is 4-4.5 inches of the ground and I already know where I can and can not go. Just wanted to see if this is lower. Whether I would need to re-learn the routes. If this front is about the same, then I am good, if not I might have to think twice about getting it.

Good advice on the stock pieces.

How much of a drop do you have with your springs? 1-1.5 inches?

Glokwork 06-21-2012 08:21 PM

1.5" front and 1.25" rear

Amuse370z 06-21-2012 08:51 PM

Post pics man.

IMO, if there isn't a wheel gap, the kit will not last whatsoever. I'm looking for the perfect balance between minimal wheel gap and drivability.

I did a quick chop by superimposing a stock 370Z onto the Amuse 370Z. Does not seem like a huge difference in side skirts. Maybe 2 inches (correct me if I am wrong).

However I have no idea how low the stock ones are to the ground. Might have to take a trip to the neighborhood dealer. To bad they only have touring convertibles left. No Sport Packages.

omm370z 07-15-2012 01:59 PM

It is suppose that the vestito will drop 1.5" from the Stock in this case the nismo but what is the height of the nismo?...

Im waiting for BP numbers but aint the nismo 7.9"? So it iwll be 6.4" with the vestito installed?

Can some one corroborate this?

although that pics at the 1st page from the 370z site ain't no reference because they lowered the car for track if im not wrong

Just a reference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFbH7...4664D78836BE88

Hmm, the only options i see if we want to maintain the looks of Amuse kit + body drop + being able to drive around in city is to go with 20'' wheel and fat tires. I'm already scraping my underbody (flex pipe on exhaust) even with swift spring + stock wheel at most speed bumps (KL Malaysia). That's taken at 45-70 deg angle, cant imagine the damage if I were to go with Amuse kit.

Amuse370z 07-17-2012 05:26 AM

Just wondering guys, do you guys use a vent for the front bumper? Why or why not?

Ok the Nismo front bumper is at 5.9" - 1.5" from the vestito = 4.4" you think adding 20's+fat tires will fix this the solution?? how much is the we will gain back 1 inch?

Zen have you lower your car height or are you on stock suspension??
