Headlights Painted and Baked

40 Attachment(s)
**UPDATED AND FINISHED.. SEE PICS BELOW FOR COMPLETED!!!!!!

So yesterday was the first day of my headlight modification. We will finalize today since we are attempting to paint the areas a little bit different using lines. Below are some progress/teaser photos. We have to wet-sand some areas and finish up but this at-least gives ya an idea.

Bullitt@UAMotorsports did an awesome job and I was glad to have his assistance. Two people are much better than one person lol

Will post completed pics once everything is put back together.

looks great...im getting mine done friday...pumped....

bullitt5897 03-14-2011 02:55 PM

Yeah it was a long night yesterday... Gonna get at it again when I get off work. The original design was pretty complex and we decided to simplify it a little. Taping and prep work is really what was taking the most time. Since I wanted to give billet a really unique headlight design I thought we would take te time to do it right. I the first few coats of paint aren't perfect and since billet and myself are perfectionists we are going at it again today to see if we can clean it up a bit and make them flawless. All in all I am really liking how these are coming along and I will be offering my services to those who want a cheaper solution to getting their headlights painted.

phelan 03-14-2011 03:04 PM

^ i thought about doing a similar design, but then i hesitated at the prep work, then got lazy. i'm happy with how mine came out, but it's cool to see someone had the same idea and is actually finishing it :p

XwChriswX 03-14-2011 03:23 PM

The red ring on the inside looks Sick! I bet that would be wicked with a red demon eye... If you don't do it, I sure am!

Can't wait to see the finished product guys.

Carbon_z 03-14-2011 03:41 PM

Thanks guys for the comments... Bullitt and myself should have final pics tonight. He has a great eye and skills for this job so I'm happy with his services. It would have been finished yesterday if we just painted the rings one color but we decided to go for something different. Way longer but worth it

kenchan 03-14-2011 03:50 PM

:yum: nice~

XwChriswX 03-14-2011 07:20 PM

Have you started to make a ballpark figure for cost since you said this would be cheaper than other routes??

Red__Zed 03-14-2011 08:32 PM

looking good. Can't wait to see the finished product.

SPOHN 03-14-2011 08:48 PM

Viera 03-14-2011 11:01 PM

I've been wanting to get my headlight housing blacked out! If anyone is willing to lend a helping hand, I'd be most grateful. :)

bullitt5897 03-14-2011 11:23 PM

We are looking at the $350+ range depending on what you want done. I will also be doing LEDs too.

Looks good. Can't wait to see it on Saturday.

TypeOne 03-16-2011 09:53 AM

I don't know if it's just my taste... but no matter how many times I see it done, I just don't like painting the insides of headlights the same color as the car.

Props to you for doing it, it looks like proper work, but man... red light rings just doesn't do it for me.

geosZ 03-16-2011 10:01 AM

Wow looks good man. Good job. Now u can do mine :)

Carbon_z 03-16-2011 10:41 AM

I wasnt a big fan of painting the rings the same color but painting them the way we did was perfect in my opinion. Not too much red and yet it allows the overall flow of the car to work

Thanks again Mike aka bullitt@uamotorsports , you biatchhhhhhhh

bullitt5897 03-16-2011 10:41 AM

Some people will like this mod some wont. When Billet asked me to do his headlights... he was wanting to do something like what most have done. I then spoke up and said lets do something different. So we brainstormed threw a couple of ideas together and came up with what you see on his car now. If you want your headlights done feel free to PM me and we can work something out.

Mike

you did a really clean job man...

Jonathan Vach 03-24-2011 04:45 PM

WOW i love to interior carbon fiber !! where did u get them??? thanks:tup::tup:

Carbon_z 03-24-2011 11:12 PM

you can get more info on the carbon fiber by visiting our site Carbon Fiber Element or just pm'ing me :)

Sealer I used was simply a black color high temp gasket sealer they sell at autozone for 5 bucks. I have read people just reheat the lights when complete "which we did as well" but I felt the extra black silicon wasnt going to hurt anything and would just give better protection against water and leaks....

PS: NO LEAKS OR WATER OR ANYTHING... they are still perfect :)

DIGItonium 03-26-2011 12:52 PM

Man... I have the balls to rip the interior pieces and change out the LEDs, but I'm still trying to grow balls to bake, take apart, and paint the headlights! I ordered a bunch of stuff while the car is still in the body shop. If all works well, I'll create my own thread.

Carbon_z 03-26-2011 04:39 PM

yea I was the same way. interior no prob, exterior no prop....Headlights HELL NO FIND A PROFESSIONAL lol...but the week I did my headlights my balls showed up and they were golden LOL....
