I think you guys are exemplifying why they left it out of the US model :p
It's not a brake light, it's not a tail-light, it's not an OMFG Look At My Car Dude light, it's a Fog Light. You don't want it on at other times, only in low visibility conditions. |

Well, I've actually ordered the rear fog light from the Z Store...as they are out of stock (there are apparently coming from Japan) it will be 3-4 weeks before I actually have it in hand with a chance to install.
I'm not sure where I'm going to wire it yet but I'm probably going to try using the installed harness with a rocker switch in the center counsol so that I can control when it's on...I'd say this is a good option to have in pre-dawn and twilight conditions as well as fog. I'll let you all know how it turns out! |
I ordered the fog light wiring harness from Japan. Not sure how it works.
Will let you know when I get it. Michael |

Any update on this thread?
|
looks like no updates yet. can't believe it takes this long for some store to figure out on selling and installing this item, it's rediculous, it's just a small rear fog light at the back
|
Has anyone received and installed the light yet?
|
JDM_ED has the rear light installed, saw it last night at the Houston meetup, but he hasn't wired up a switch to use it yet.

I'm happy to report that my working J Spec rear fog light has been installed and is working quite well.
I had a dealer do the actual work but it was a fairly painless - we ordered a spare "heated seat" switch to put in the center (unused) space between the driver and passenger heated seat switches and it works perfectly. The light came from motorsportauto.com plus the cost of the switch (about $17) and about two hours of labor. I don't know how often I'll ever actually use the rear fog but the real thing is a lot more attractive than the dummy unit our American spec cars get plus it's nice to know the light is there if conditions warrant using it. |
This is the "dummy unit" that was removed. The differences between the dummy unit and the functional unit is primarily the lens itself and the bulb assembly.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...myAssembly.jpg The "center" switch is the switch that controls the rear fog - it is a "heated" seat switch and occupies a space that is usually empty (covered by a "blank" switch cover - no cutting was required). http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...lle/Switch.jpg Functional Unit installed but turned off http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/LightOff.jpg This is the unit turned on - it will only operate if the car is running. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...le/LightOn.jpg These images were taken with my camera phone and not in the best lighting conditions but hopefully they are good enough to give everyone an idea of what the unit looks like installed and turned on! |
Pricing please
Could you please post or PM a price for install from the dealership. Thanks
