Maybe I missed it but how are they installed?

You have to remove the shifter trim piece (faux leather panel) and then there are some screws that need to be removed. I think there are some clips that you pop to release as well.

Check out the GT-R push button DIY thread. It's got some good pics in there.

How do you remove the stock and put the new one in?

This deserves a revive. The alcantara would look so much better..

Only one member I knew of... Then he sold his car...

TenaciousZ 05-20-2013 08:40 AM

I talked to the parts guy at my local dealership about this a little while ago.

The convertible (2012 for sure - maybe others) comes with the alcantara knee pads from the factory.

I had him look up the part number to see if i could order some but it was the same part number as the regular ones from everything he looked at.

Chuck33079 05-20-2013 08:46 AM

I want these so bad. Every dealer part department I've talked to can't seem to figure this out. The one online place I tried cancelled my order because it was out of stock.

Sweet! Found a set, should be here today or tomorrow. If anyone is looking, I found mine through gz06 here on the forum. Shoot him a pm if you're having the same trouble finding these as I did.

i thought this was just part of the touring package? mine came with them, and its a 2011 touring sport coupe. just curious if they were added without my knowing. free stuff, yay? :bowrofl:

Chuck33079 05-21-2013 05:41 PM

I've got a 2011 sport touring as well, and the knee pads on mine are definitely leather. Not sure how you got the alcantara ones.

Look what was waiting for me today when I got home. I'll dye the stitching red and hopefully get them installed over the weekend. Attachment 69426

Mine arrived Friday, installed them in 10 minutes yesterday.

Looks good boys, I would definitely do this switch, looks more classy

I'd would have to dye the stiching red also to match the rest of the red 40th stitching

I think it was around $80 shipped. Nothing too steep.

That's the problem. I'm in that same boat now, and I can't ship the steering wheel of my daily driver to Dubai or whatever.

I hear you, I saw a few wheels on Ebay for sale which wasn't bad (without airbag which is perfect)

Good thing about CFE is they are in NY...anyways, its a slipperly slope lol

Chuck33079 06-28-2013 12:24 PM

Ok, I was thinking of Carbonsignal. Either way, unless they've got a core to swap out I'm pretty much stuck with oem.
