I also like round knobs, but some of them with the ball only just don't look right to me. The TWM A6 Leopard Shift Knob looks pretty nice and is very weighty. (I know this is going to sound wrong, but let's stay on topic here) I think the round knobs that have a shaft look better than the ones with a round knob only. Has anyone tried the Blox round shift knobs? They look pretty nice and also have some weight to them. ProfessorDave, I read your DIY for the rattle fix on the Password:JDM knobs. Do you remember what size that grommet was? Thanks. As you all may be able to tell, I am still undecided on which shift knob to get. I may just get the Password:JDM shift knob for now. On all the cars I have ever owned with stick shift (this is my 7th), I always end up buying several different ones over time. I just seem unable to be fully committed to one! |

Thanks.
The knob itself is an NRG Carbon Fiber Universal shift knob from Amazon (SK-300BC). It's a screw on knob that includes a set of 3 plastic inserts that can be used to put it together. It costs $40-$50 depending upon where you get it, and it's not real heavy. But you're right, it's a ball type shift knob, which by itself doesn't look good. I added a "shift knob base cover" from ZeeToyz (about $20), but it rattled. So I added a "shaft collar" from my local Ace Hardware store ($2.50) above it, and now I like the way it looks. I hope that helps. |
WDRead, thanks for the info above. It does help clear things up a bit:tup:

Grommet dimensions are: 1" in diameter, with a 1/2" hole (this fits over the thickest part of the shifter shaft). The thickness of the grommet is 1/4". Hope this helps!

^That really seems to match the metallic interior trim very nicely, I saw it in person and it looks great in my opinion.

Here is my Nismo shift knob installed on an AMS short shifter. Weight is nice and goes well with interior. The only complaint I have is it gets a little slippery sometimes ;)

Does anyone know if the 6spd shifter knob from the g37 will fit the 370?
|
Quote:
i'm gonna say with 90% certainty they are. everywhere i look, aftermarket knobs are sold for the 370z and the G37 interchangably. |
I believe they are the same, same transmission right
|
They are the exact same thread pitch from 350z - g37s!

Stock sucks because of how lite and cheap it is. The weighted knob helps with the driveline vibration and also smooths out the shorter shift throws w/ a short shifter. The satin finish feels good to the hand also!! |
This is my preferred ball style knob. But not for the Z:

AutoExe Carbon Shift Knob with TWM SS
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...5/IMG_1376.jpg I like it a lot. The only complaint I have is I think its a little too skinny, I found out I prefer rounder knobs. But its a great shift knob with excellent quality and its easy to adjust. |
^ Cool button ;)

Figured I would update this, I just got my shift knob from Tommy Kaira.
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5...9/IMG_3816.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5...9/IMG_3815.jpg I've found a few pictures but there's really nothing about these written anyplace, at least not in English. To be honest, I had pretty low expectations when I ordered it... It's just a shift knob right, but that probably helped allot :rofl2: I have nothing bad to say about it, OK well except for maybe that stupid phrase on the top but oh well. It fits perfectly in your hand and the shape gives it a great feel and grip. That weird turtle thing does stick up a little, but that gives it some texture and certainly doesn't bother me any. I don't know what they coated it with but it feels suspiciously smooth, almost slippery even, but again you do have a solid grip on it. I don't think you hand slipping off would be an issue due to the shape, turns out that probably won't matter anymore anyway though. The weight is good and it does make a bit of a difference in the feel of the *****. It also fits perfectly with the shift boot, as you can see. Maybe even better then the stock knob, all I did was screw it on there are no extra washers or anything the boot just fits. This was a rare purchase I have actually been completely satisfied with, the price isn't even a big factor. That damn Stereo cost 1ox as much and I was not nearly as happy with it when it was done. (It still really isn't finished I just don't feel like ******* with it anymore) |
What does that symbol repersent?
|
A very fast turtle? ;)
|
I thought it looked like that.

I don't know, their Japanese. I don't have to explain how weird they are do I? :rofl2:
http://www.due-east.org/images/0308/JapanWeird.jpg I guess their logo is a Turtle though |
