It is actually a rattle noise from the actual plastic cover of the steering column. It happens at constant speed on less than smooth roads. Sorry for the confusion.

yeap, that is what it is. Silicon balls on the heater core. Backflush the system and it will go away.

It freaked me out too cuz it sounds just like severe knocking and this happened right after my car got the TT tune lol.
