looks cool man. |
Doh! I can't view the pictures at work. Black Cat Custom has been struggling with my bezel for over 2 months. The owner says he can do an overlay, but it is ugly because it looks tacked on. He's trying to get his equipment running to create molds of the bezel.

nice after checking yours pics id also like to know where you got the cf audio surround piece

Here's what Black Cat Custom is working for me. It's very early in the stages so he is simply testing the placement of the overlay. If it doesn't work out, then he is also going to try to work on a mold as a direct replacement.
|
That is awesome - I'm thinking a photograph and a vinyl cutter might make something nice - might practice with coloring a photo and printing on inkjet vinyl.

Looks Great and will be intersted if it becomes available?

Thanks... eventually he'll figure something out that can be easily customized and mass produced. The look I'm going for will match the stock gauges and work with my white LED lighting :D
If making a mold does not work, I'll simply take the gauge face, drill out the amber parts, spray paint black, and glue the face on. |

Made my first ones, but it is a little too glossy. Might need to change materials, also a pixel or two off in alignment. Will try to post pctures later.

update..... i talked to a local buddy of mine who makes stickers i had him scan the original spare and his gonna make 15.... and i will sell these to you guys  i just wanna say i aint tryna rape you guys on profit.... im just tryna be a nice guy and get these out to everyone.... here is the breakdown.... he charged me $35 bucks for scanning charge fee.... and charging me $7 bucks for each sticker (15made)....
that totals to $140 if you divide 15 to that youll get $9... im going to sell these overlays to you guys for $12 shipped... i think thats pretty fair  i gotta buy envelopes and stamps so each sticker should cost me a buck to ship out to the US.... so that leaves me with $2 bucks :happydance: if each overlay leaves me with $2 bucks i can get a mc double and a small drink and ill be more than a happy camper :bowrofl: im just tryna help the forum.... im not a vendor nor do i think that small of an overlay like this should cost more than that.... lol i mean come on... its just a sticker.... let me know what you guys think ;) |
Great work Simota! Not trying to hog this thread, but just as an FYI you guys can reference my thread in regards to disassembly of the entire gauge cluster for modification here:
Nissan 370Z Forum - DIGItonium's Album: Gauge Cluster Modification You will have to do this the first time in order to get the Fuel/Temp gauge bezel removed. Then you can reassemble the entire gauge cluster and reinstall it without the bezel. Once the bezel is modified (painted, sticker, etc.), you can simply pop it back in. Nissan 370Z Forum - DIGItonium's Album: Gauge Cluster Modification On a side note, I'm currently modifying the oil temp and batt volt cluster. The faces will be sent out to Black Cat Custom, so he will make the new gauge faces available for customization. The only drawback is that the entire dash needs to be removed to get to the cluster. Simota, you should paint the bezel black! |

no prob man... :happydance: |
Curious to see how he cuts them, but that seems like an outrageous scanning fee - are you sure he's a friend? :D
If he is doing a vinyl cutter, that will be nicer than mine (I don't have one yet), but I did add a color bar from green to yellow for water temp, and some color squares (green to red) for gas that show up in the daytime. |
Hey is that the list for the black fuel guage overlay?
