[QUOTE=nogoodname;1297919]You guys should get the razo AT shift knob instead. Looks much better!

The Razo shift knobs are a discontinued item none available.

nope... AT knobs are already hard to find.. this is like one of the only options available. it's really not that big.

At first I thought I could just transfer one for the other, but then I reallized there were subtle differences. Also once you tear everything down you will find that there are clearance issues with the 6spd surround. It seems the opening on the 6 speed is slightly smaller than the 7AT, and will not fit over even once you take the indicator plate off and everything. So what I found was that I needed to remove the boot from the surround. Once I did this I just placed the boot over the indicator, lined it up and popped the original surround in place. The surround will pretty much keep the boot in place. Just thought some people might like this idea, if they wanted to stick with OEM parts. Heres are a couple pics, if anyone wants anymore of the teardown I can post those as well. Im getting a MOMO knob here in a couple of days too, so I'll post pics when I do that if someone wants

I like it, but it seems as if it would look better with a shorter boot. So it just fits under the AT surround and stays in place because of the tension?

I think it looks great too.

Maybe if you trimmed the bottom some so less of it was exposed outisde the trim piece.

Either way, it's a big improvement over the cheap looking plastic gate we have now.

I don't see what you mean by trimming the bottom? Might be my old eyes but I don't see anything sticking out.

somatic 09-09-2011 10:41 PM

So does the ring on the boot fit snugly?

KaienZ34 09-09-2011 11:17 PM

Subbed!!

Looks gay

Xplicit97 09-12-2011 11:20 AM

Trim ring fits snug, and yes you just slide the boot over the piece that has the shift indicator on it. Then you just put the silver trim ring over it. As far as cutting the boot you could but then it might not fit, I actually kinda like the bunched up look but hey to each their own

Does everything fit pretty secure? No problems with the boot sliding down?

somatic 09-13-2011 08:43 AM

Sorry, should have been clearer. By trimming, I meant cutting off an inch or so off the bottom to make the boot shorter, and thus not so bunched-up.

It's a big improvement over what we have now, but just a little too big. I'm anxious to see what Redline can come up with. I'm in to order a boot if they can figure out the proper fit.

Somatic, I expect a DIY!

I talked to Redline about getting one made, and they said they just need pics of the shifter area and the handle. So I just need to take some and email them back... I guess now that I'm thinking about it, I'll go do that now. :icon17:

somatic 10-10-2011 03:43 PM

How about a DIY on reps?

I stumbled onto it once, and have never found out how to do it again.

And yes, I have done a search.

I bought this shift knob and a oem shift boot. This knob pushes down to engage. It looks like a regular manual one but the whole thing is a button.

KaienZ34 02-21-2012 12:48 PM

What brand is it, where did you get it and how much? :tiphat:
