kenchan 08-30-2010 02:32 PM

looks good!

there's some red peeking out from the fog lamp area(?).

Nitex 08-30-2010 02:40 PM

^^ Agreed that it looks good were there is coverage. However i also agree that I'm not sold on the red peeking from the fog light and exhaust area.

Big J 08-30-2010 02:58 PM

That red showing kinda ruins the purpose of it to me.

Jamaica 08-30-2010 03:02 PM

not bad.

jordo- maybe you can have bats cut a small piece to cover that area? if your seams match perfectly no one will be able to tell you added a piece there...well, we know but... :icon17:

Yep -- that's what I plan to do. He already offered to send me some free strips to fill in the red.

Shhhh... it'll be our little secret :icon17:

simota1 08-30-2010 06:36 PM

looks great bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jordo! 08-30-2010 11:02 PM

Thanks, guys

Not sure why it didn't cover fully... possibly the installers could have stretched it more but didn't?

Notwithstanding that (and BB is going to take care of it for me), it looks like it came that way from Nissan -- very happy with product :D

98intrigue 08-31-2010 01:33 PM

Are you going to redyno now? Hana. Looks good!

Joka4411 08-31-2010 02:26 PM

Whats up with the red peeking around the light?

vividracing 08-31-2010 08:50 PM

wow Z looks amazing!

simota1 08-31-2010 08:58 PM

i had the same red outline on my z when i did my own overlay.... when you get the fog... its not noticeable

TongMan 09-01-2010 12:49 AM

If you want just a black look then it's okay, but I like my carbon fiber di noc look more.

Bluebatmobile 09-01-2010 05:10 PM

I'm going to add more around the edges on newer overlays. Never really had that issue before. Looks great Jordan! Dont forget to post pics after the strips ;).

btw, you need my taillight overlay with the cutout for the clear section ;).

wh1te370z 09-03-2010 11:49 AM

Does it go all the way under the bumper? i noticed it didnt go on on the bottom of the bumper over the exhaust. Also wouldnt putting litle stips make it look weird? ive been doing signs since i was like 8. so im just curious bc i wouldn't atempt this with viynl. ulness it was high performance and even still trying to get every curve in one piece would be the biggest PITA.

kenchan 09-03-2010 02:25 PM

yah, it only covers the face of the bumper...thus i went with the CF fang and diffuser for the ultimate wrap around.

but then again, the vinyl looks nice and for most folks that's wat they want.

kenchan 09-03-2010 07:03 PM

I just noticed the new EvoR diffuser is the same way on TheZ's car with peeking paint from the rear fog area. :icon14:

Will do -- thanks

Do you have pics of the taillight overlay?

Jordo! 09-07-2010 04:04 PM

Hey guys, I got the extra piece of vinyl...

Do you think I should have a piece cut that just covers the whole "buttplug" area?

I wasn't planning on getting the rear fog, and I don't see the point/aesthetic value of having a shiny square of tinted plastic in the center...

What do you guys think?

kenchan 09-07-2010 04:11 PM

i would just cover the red where it's peeking through.

go into the nook around the primeter of the dummy lamp by at least 4-5mm so that you get full coverage. might even suggest using 3-4 separate pieces and butt-end the seams.

Jordo! 09-09-2010 01:09 PM

The tint place didn't feel confident that they could cut strips to look right

I'm hoping Bluebat will either send me a replacement vinyl with better fitment or pre-cut a little "frame" or something that will do a better job of covering the red outline...

Sucks... it's a really nice piece, but the fitment could be a little more precise :(

kenchan 09-09-2010 02:00 PM

really? that's werd. it would look better than the peeking red.... they should've at least tried.

but can't you try it yourself? it's not difficult to do. clean the area with rubbing alcohol. make a template using a piece of paper. if you can't make a clean box, just do 4 strips with 45 degree angles like a picture frame.

line up the vinyl's butt-ends and press down. use a squeegee or plastic razor and press down into the nook.

Bluebatmobile 09-10-2010 07:55 AM

Jordan, check your email ;).

Glad Andy took care of it

I had the same problem on mine, but just found a way to fill the gap for now

What exactly did you do?

Boost_lee 09-13-2010 12:49 AM

Had some left over vinyl from a friend that I just overlaid on the gap. Mine had less gap than yours but I had the fog light off the car during the install. It noticeable only if you as looking directly at the edges around the fog.

That was one option the tint shop suggested, but it looked like a PITA to get the rear fog out. It's held in by more than just that little plastic clip, isn't it or no?

kenchan 09-13-2010 01:41 PM

yah, i had to literally cut the nut to remove my dummy fog lamp...

^^^^ nissan is retarded for putting so much loctite on that thing :shakes head:

Boost_lee 09-13-2010 11:36 PM

^^ yep, I ended up using a drill with a 10mm on the end of it. I just let it spin until the plastic melted and the whole stud came out.
