majestik...it's hard to tell because you didn't have pics on a bright, sunny day...are these brighter than the Greddy's in daylight?
|
Just cancelled my Greddy order and went with the ones Majestik ordered. I'll post a review when I get them installed. The same site also has some cool strips that are a combo of white and amber and can alternate when the turn signal goes on. I don't think they're flat enough to surround the headlight though...more of a bumper/grille mod.

I'd like to try these: Audi LED Strip Lights | LED Daytime Running Lights | LED Headlights I like these much better than the greddy's, thinner also. |
Might as well go this route:
Side Emitting "Headlight" LED Strip PAIR AUDI STYLE ULTRA THIN 20 SMD LED STRIP XENON WHITE: eBay Motors (item 220656706977 end time Sep-17-10 17:37:19 PDT) At least you wont be out a bunch of $$$ :) Greddy really pulled one over on Z owners. That price is just ridiculous! Then they have no customer service to even back them up! I am staying away from them! Good luck to everyone trying this mod  |
Any updates from the guys who bought the side emitting leds instead of greddys?
|
I wonder how it would look if someone had used the modified landing strip leds and this headlight mod, so your headlights would look like some sort of boomerang. idk if thats a good or bad thing

You should actually thank GReddy for not responding to my numerous emails.... :stirthepot: |
Just got my greddy kit installed since I already had them.. 2-3 more leds would be better.
Looks great although I do like the longer strips better so I might switch them out. Luckily they were installed on a single set of plugs to the ignition switch. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6093286_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7218771_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4037160_n.jpg |
Looks like I'm getting the side shine ones. How's the install process for those who have them?
Just purchase and then pull the bumper off and split into an ignition wire somewhere? |

Simota1 did you use the xenon white or the ultra blue?? they have a blueish tint to them but I like.
|
pm sent bro :D

Thank you simota1 and Majest, I was just about to place my order literally I was entering my credit card info and ....then I came back to the thread and clicked next page and read some more LoL, and A BIG thank you to greedy I mean greddy:)
|
One thing I just noticed, it could just be me, but I see that majestiks drl's are evenly spaced apart, simota1 looks like they are grouped in three then spaced a little further apart, I had to click back and forth pages to catch this, can someone please explain why this is or is my OCD kicking in :)

Your DRL's still look awesome:) if your car wasn't so amazing I would have never noticed:) I think it might be the actual LED strip the way it was designed, MAJ's seem to have the xenon white and Sim's seem to be the ultra blue, the strips might be designed a little different, but damn they both look good, I was in debate white or blue I ended up ordering the white cause Hawaii Law is strict we can't have any color other than white (I believe it's 42k I have to double check) and amber in front while driving or major ticket and I want to use the DRL's all day, I might just order the blue anyway :) LoL
|
Yes, it seems as we have both got different strips.
The site sells many different kinds. The ones I have are evenly spaced and are white. |
Ha after careful examination and installing these onto my car, (came out awesome BTW thanks again Sim and Maj) I figured out the reason behind the difference in LED strips between Sim and Maj. Maj has 20 evenly spaced individual LED, Sim has 21, three are covered, initially I had to count LEDs to figure this out then smacked my head when reading again to realize Sim stated he covered three. Then jump back and forth to JDMtoy website. The link Maj provided is correct for his LED's and Sims. But, The first product for LED listed is the ones Sim have installed cutable every three LED's, The second product below the first are the ones Maj has installed - 40 LED total. Both are shine side, one is cutable and one not....I am buying another set YAY. I also realized that I could have applied them directly to the underside of the HL's after putting the bumper back on, damn. Hope this helps anyone who decides to buy these:)

Here is what I ended up with
Some Pics of the LED's pre and post install, what I did was wire directly to a source that would turn them on automatically to make them true daytime running lights, the source I used was the second fuse box behind the battery and spliced the wire to the ignition fuse, so they automatically turn on and off, I like it better this way, oh and to take a picture of these LED's was a real PAI with an iphone they are so bright, I had to use flas to capture them in some of the pics to see them clearly. The pics without flash are BLINDING BRIGHT http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...stFlashLed.jpg http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...ashtestLED.jpg http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...aii/DRLLED.jpg http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...versideLED.jpg http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...ightsOnLED.jpg http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...ssengerLED.jpg http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/z...NoFlashLED.jpg |
hmm... i prefer the subtle brightness in the greddy ones... but dont care for the price tag. the less expensive ones all seem to be extremely bright... which looks nice, but i would like subtle for my ride. I may end up with the Greddy ones just for the level of brightness i prefer.
|
simota: do you have a link to the exact item you ordered? if i went with the products you guys are using, i prefer the set you have with the just slightly seperated groups of 3... all i can find on that website are extremely seperated groups of 3. yours are much closer groups.

Also in reality, the brightness looks exactly like YamahaR6's photo below. It's just that our camera skills aren't as L33t as our skills at spending 1/10th the cost to get a better result :ughdance: |
