:roflpuke2: I don't know what they used on that thing, but it is the most powerful thread locker I have ever encountered. It looked like some kind of grease, but grease would make it easier to get off

My knob came off really easy.. idk why... maybe someone had pulled it off before?

Anyway, I think that I'm going to go with the B&M. I've used them in other cars, as well as other Nissans and they work great. I'm fine with having to file something down, as long as the shifter will work for a long time. B&M has been making great shifters for a longggg time and that has to count for something.

+1 Mine came right off without any effort. I literally just twisted the OEM off and installed a Nismo knob.

I've got a question- how long would an average Joe like me take to install this? What do you think the average time for a Nissan tuner shop would be to install?

If I take it in, I just don't want to be raked over the coals for a mod I have never attempted and don't know the install time.

Just ordered my TWM today based on what I've read on here, can't wait to get it. After reading about all the troubles people have been having with the stock shift knob I decided to try and get mine off and I don't know what the big deal is. I twisted mine off with one had just sitting in my driveway. :rolleyes:

I think the previous owner may have taken it off already, or someone totally forgot the thread locker during assembly because they were totally bare.

I'm with you as well... I got a new knob last Christmas from the gf and ran outside to put it on. Unaware of all of the fuss, I broke it loose and pulled it right off. No tools or anything...

I still haven't bought a short shifter but I plan on doing it soon. It's on there with UpRev and an oil cooler.

I thought about getting a knob along with the short shifter but I just can't find anything that makes me go wow. I really like the feel of the stock knob.

I like the factory knob too. But the Nismo titanium one has me interested. Also the Zele.... but I'm not spending $400+ for a shifter knob. :eek:

I installed the Stillen short shifter- no big issues on install, the original torque specs caused a little binding, backing it off a little bit, everything worked great. They throws are very short, and for me took a little getting used to- perhaps the "notchiness" that people refer to. I enjoy the precise high-speed shifts- which when thrown quickly with some force make the the shifter snap into its gate.

All gears work great including reverse- the only one that is a tad more difficult to hit for me is the quick 2-to-3 upshift. But I haven't been using the shifter for too long, so I expect that will go away with more driving.

Just out of curiosity- what have people heard negatively about the Stillen? I didn't seem to find anything when I first started looking.
