Fake amuse bodykit

goddamn...
I want amuse bodykit so bad and my friends been bugging me to get the bodykit.
BUT THIS THING IS SO EXPENSIVE!!!
I COULD GET A WINTER BEATER CAR WITH THAT MONEY!!
Anyone know if anyone makes fake, but pretty decent fake bodykit from amuse?

bullitt5897 06-25-2010 11:09 PM

Shame!!! And the answer is NO there is only one manufacturer of that kit... Amuse.

JB-370z 06-25-2010 11:13 PM

agree, it cost alot of money for R&D and manufacturing to bring this kit alive. would not be right to let another company get this for free.

Trips 06-25-2010 11:13 PM

And let everyone know your stuffs a knock off?
I don't think so, But thats just me to each his own. Good Luck

AK370Z 06-25-2010 11:21 PM

If you can't afford Amuse, just go buy something else that's cheaper. There are Nismo S-tune kit, Seibon kit, JP Vizage, Ings+1 etc. There's no mental satisfaction in buying knock off kits. Friends don't let friends buy replica kits! :shakes head:

Jamaica 06-25-2010 11:29 PM

well think about it....alot of stuff from japan companies replicate especially the jdm. There is the book called hyper rev from japan and i see tonns and toons of companies make replicas.

nogoodname 06-26-2010 12:01 AM

Gotta pay to play....lol

Jamaica 06-26-2010 12:11 AM

yup. I just got mine so I would hate for someone to replicate it...

you buy the R1000 exhaust, and you bitch about the price Amuse posts for the body kit? you confuse me.

i suppose i could say 'stop supporting knock off vendors', but then i'd get flamed for being biased. so nyah.

I was just trying to show my local friends what people will think about me getting a fake bodykit LOL

Windex_ 06-26-2010 05:13 AM

lol it didnt seem that way in your first post...

kenchan 06-26-2010 06:44 AM

...but phalen is a fake japanese...

*kenchan runs off*

JB-370z 06-26-2010 11:01 AM

I think it is important to keep these kits out of the hands of "replica" makers. Its not cheap to create a body kit and its even harder to make one that everyone loves.

Nothing like the "Real Deal Holyfeild", like punch to the face.

Hahaha knock off JDM phelan!!!! :bowrofl:

Jordo! 06-26-2010 11:53 AM

If the quality of the replica is very good, I really don't see what the issue is.

Wings West made a very nice knock off on a discontinued TRD elegante lip kit for the Celica -- it looked great, was high quality with excellent fitment -- also cost considerably less than the (again DISCONINUED, thus nearly impossible to find) TRD original.

On the other hand, I had an original greddy lip and that was a POS made out of plastic -- I would have happily taken a knock off if it was less expensive and superior quality :icon14:

The Amuse kit may be top notch, so perhaps a knock off won't do it justice.. that said, these aren't "exclusive", just pricey.

Much of the cost of a kit that isn't simply mark-up, BTW, is the cost of the molds, not R&D. A really good company will not reuse the mold more than a few times to ensure each piece comes out perfectly.

That's fine, so long as the fitment is always perfect -- even the big names cut corners sometimes, and you wind up paying for the name only.

Also, part of what you are paying for is the import fee, not the quality or to compensate the manufacturer for his alledged R&D (was this tested on a track or wind tunnel or is just cosmetic??)... it's your money.

Of course, there are probably some sort of copyright issues, so I suppose you could make a legitimate case against knock-offs on the basis of that...

I'd love to hear what folks around here think of Rota wheels, which are well liked by autoxers and road course racers, but often dismissed as "cheap knock offs" by others.

Just a thought... are people concerned about "high quality" or being able to say "it's an original"? Fair enough on the former; on the latter... again, it's your money...

When you actually look at the part, it has a lot of details. Going to be hard for companies to replicate

Almost any thing can be copied but it's the details that sometimes were it falls short. Like fitment and cosmetics making it look cheap, and everyone seems to forget that there are copyright laws, so the fake will have to be different enough so as the company making them wont get sued.... That makes them noticeably different in some cases. but again some companies that have rights to discontinued parts do make a better then Original part in some cases.

Jamaica 06-26-2010 05:26 PM

Waiz 06-26-2010 07:46 PM

Send me $10,000 to Lagos, Nigeria and I can get a kit made for you.

LOL

SE 06-26-2010 08:05 PM

Jordo,

You have a few good points, but the point is that what makes the originals so expensive is not just the molds (I am well aware of the difference in quality in a product after a mold has been reused too many times), but also the engineering and design. Yes you can pay cheaper for a knockoff product but in the end you are only shooting yourself in the foot. Every dime you spend on a knockoff means the original manufacturer doesn't make a profit on what they designed themselves. In the end companies that keep getting their products replicated can't stay in business. Then you as a consumer are left with limited options or shoddy products (without testing) from alternative manufacturers.

Don't get me started on Rota either. While they are cheap, they are horrible quality. True forged wheels are far superior to that of a mass produced cast wheel. I have had friends in the distributing business long enough to know that the typical Rota wheel has a 3mm casting variance.

My original slogan. :p

Vegitto-kun 06-27-2010 09:31 PM

Haha I wouldn't want a ripoff, you pay for quality most of the time anyway.

and ken I so agree with your slogan haha.

I use it for stuff like the BMW 1 series

you want a BMW but you cant

bumblez 06-29-2010 03:27 PM
