EVO-R side skirts review.... non carbon version

hey everyone... i just recieved the NON carbon fiber version side skirts from evo-r and decided to do a review.... all i can say is that... he does some FAST SHIPPING.... i freaked out that they arrived already... packaging top notch.... they were secured with so much foam i had a hard time taking them out lol i cut the box apart...the quality of the product itself is great... the underside is unfinished but it doesnt matter because you wont see that part anyways... the paint job on the side skirts were beautiful... i didnt have to spray them black anymore... it doesnt come with instructions but it does come with a 2 long rolls of 3m mounting tape.. and self tap screws... it took about 10 mins to install each side.... installing it is pretty straight forward... line it up and stick it on the underside then self tap screws to secure it even more... fitment is perfect and yes the jacking tabs clear the side skirt add ons.. i actually used two scissor jacks thats how i jacked one side up.... :happydance: now all i need is a lip and im good :D

here are the pics... ps.. i just installed 30mm and 25mm ichiba v2 spacers also :happydance:

JB-370z 04-17-2010 08:29 AM

I love it I will prolly go with the sun line kit too. Are you going to do the sl front as well?

cjof2003 04-17-2010 09:32 AM

Car looks great!

Did the self tapping screws go into metal? If so might I suggest you remove them, clean the holes and put some touch up paint on them to prevent any future rust issues!

Knives 04-17-2010 10:01 AM

You have to remove the splash guards to install them, right?

i really really really wanna get the Sunline racing lip... i think it looks absolutely beautiful!!! BUT its made outa fiberglass :( and i know imma destroy it hitting an unnecessary bump or if i scrape the crap outa it by accident.... i was waiting for replicas to come out when it did its still frp  so instead im going with jp vizage since they off a FULL polyurethane lip for the front... i figure if i ever accidently slam a pot hole i wont crack it... ill just have to repaint it

the self tap screws didnt go through any metal... the stock sides are made outa plastic and the screws where only half an inch long.... when i screwed them in.. i even just used my hands not a cordless drill to drive it in...

correct.... you have to remove the stock mud flaps.... i originally wanted to keep the mud flaps.... but when i got the rear caps... and i was tryna sell them.. the other red z told me he wouldnt buy it unless it came with the front... so i had no choice.... i believe username mbonnani aka mike from double down... has a pair of the rx-7 side spats that allows the usage of the stock front mudflap... i was suppose to buy it from him.... try sending him a pm if you wanna buy it....

Ricochet48 04-17-2010 12:22 PM

Those look great. I wish they angled up a bit on the ends more like splitters though. This still looks more subtle and clean, especially when paired with the front and rear pieces.

RCZ 04-17-2010 12:28 PM

Your car looks better and better each time I see it man, it looks GREAT right now.

I'd never thought a solid red would look this sick

NewYorkJon34 04-18-2010 01:51 AM

Is that the sunline rear pieces that you have painted red next to the evo-r diffuser? Can you take some more up close picks of the side pieces, I'm trying to imagine what they would look like on a white Z.

I like those too. Especially with the Evo-R rear diffuser.

simota1 04-18-2010 08:47 AM

thanks for the compliment zpirate :tiphat:

NewYorkJon34 04-18-2010 09:02 AM

Dang you prob have the best looking red Z on the site, where did you buy the rear pieces? Someone should Photoshop it white, rep+ to whoever does ;)

simota1 04-18-2010 09:10 AM

thanks again bro... i got it from keng... a member on this forum :happydance: super kool guy... got them to me in like 2days from texas!!! freaking half way around the world lol

NewYorkJon34 04-18-2010 09:15 AM

Ya I saw on the sunline site, they are like $598 for the frp version, does he sell them at a cheaper price, if so can you have him PM me a deal? Also in your opinion, what would look better with the painted rear pieces: carbon or not carbon evo-r diffuser? The only carbon I have is the F.I. Exhaust mufflers, and don't want it to look too "over the top", lol

simota1 04-18-2010 09:25 AM

i would suggest carbon... itll be a nice accent to the fi carbon exhaust.... i think itll look great with the painted rear caps.... keng bought it from shine auto.... they make replica sunline kits.... i think its like 250 if you go directly to them....

NewYorkJon34 04-18-2010 10:37 AM

Hey was there any fitment issues with any of the pieces you ordered? Gaps, etc..

i wont lie to you.... there is gaps.... about 1/8 gaps.... :shakes head: but its only in the middle of the piece.... but if know a good body shop can tweak the parts and make them fit perfect... it was my fault for not checking the fitment.... i automatically thought it would fit perfect....:ugh2:

NewYorkJon34 04-18-2010 04:38 PM

So as long as its installed right the first time, there wont be any gaps?

batman_4 04-18-2010 05:50 PM

that looks great

btw what exhaust is that?

brakedrift12 04-18-2010 06:40 PM

I like your z dude. Never thought non-sports package z would look this hot :)
