Stillen bumper arrived today!!!!!!!
:happydance::happydance::happydance:
Just a couple shots I took at the body shop. I'll add some commentary later on, going out to the mexican restaurant/bar now. http://www.the370z.com/members/mike-...-stillen-1.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/mike-...-stillen-2.jpg |
:) noice

Never saw that upper vent before, which I assume is for the Gen III intakes, looks good.
|
Nice! The bar under the vents will probably look good dark orange since you have a black Z with orange/black wheels.
|
thoughts:
body man said quality is superb, he really loved the attention to detail on the tooling he isn't happy with the 3 piece design. It will cost me 4 hours labor to blend them together. I would have rather paid freight shipping and had it in one piece. Hopefully when I bring the grill material in on Thursday, I will háček updated pics and car done sometime next week |
fugly IMHO
|
Mike, did you get the glue in your kit? If not I'll PM you the info on it.
|
Kyle, I'm not sure, since it went directly to them, and if it's easier than my shop wants to make it, that's cool, but my guys are perfectionists, so I will defer to the way they want to do it

me too, looking forward to this one.
|
in for results, this thing will definitely match will with the G3's the vent is ingenious
|
yeah kinda wish it was one piece too but oh well. In for the results of the blending...pls be sure to tell us their method and what materials were used!
|
I thnk my bodyshop will not be using the method that Stillen intended. Stillen's method may be cheaper and easier, but I have a long history with my body man, and he is comfortable with the stuff he knows and works with every day, and doesn't want to play with something new, so I will pay a little extra for him to be happy with it. Please don't take my experience as gospel, I know that Stillen put a lot of work and time into the design and execution, and how they intend it to go together. The overall cost won't be more than 200 and I am good with that.
|
It doesn't match the lines of the car...but thats just me...
|
in for the end result
|
Good luck with the urethane Mike, ;)

I rushed threw the thread but what needs to be molded? What makes it a 3-piece kit? Sorry - maybe I just missed something.
Cant wait to see it on! |

Kinda odd that it's like that. Didn't keep up with the R&D thread though, so I don't know the thought process behind it.

Cant believe that little piece can cause such an ordeal. Do you know what the cost difference would have been if it came 1 piece through the other shipping method?

Pretty excited to see this, as we might go stillen instead of amuse for our car.
|
I dont understand why everyone is so hopped up on this? being a 3 piece kit is terrible, and it has such edgy lines, it looks like it should belong on a 350z....I mean the inlet for the stillen intakes are cool, since I have stillen gen 3's and love them, but cmon you guys can do that on our stock bumpers....

We decided to make this a three piece construction to keep from having to ship truck freight which on average costs around 200 bucks and goes up from there if we ship to a residence or if the truck needs a liftgate because the drop off point doesn't have a loading dock or if the recipient isn't home and the truck driver needs to return for a second delivery date...basically truck freight is a major PITA so we did our best to avoid it.
That body line comes grooved and flanged and predrilled so that people can choose to blend it or leave it standard and just paint it with that body line there. If people do decide to fill it there is no concern of cracking later as the hardware and flange on the back is the support and the filler (supplied) is just there to blend that line out. We have been working on some very detailed instructions on how to blend that line for the DIYer...it is very easy! I can't wait to see how it turns out for you mike! |
