Interior Mood lighting Kit

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone order/install the mood light kit from JapanParts.com?

They list a "Welcome lamp + Moody illumination" kit for 26,000 Yen (about $300).

About half way down the page in the "Lights/Bulbs" section.
japanparts.com : PARTS DATABASE

Just wondering if this is a factory kit that will plug and play like the nice OEM light up kick plates.

I'm a sucker for stuff this...

SoCal 370Z 02-25-2010 11:12 AM

Looks nice, but waaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced. At least it's factory Nissan. I have contemplated this kit too and asked the Z Store, a vendor here, whether they would consider carrying more of these Nissan JDM 370Z accessories.

209Z 02-25-2010 02:58 PM

sets the car off really nice 295 is overpriced..but still everything is overpriced on a Z.

cconrado 04-19-2010 12:17 AM

???

Csquared 04-19-2010 01:49 AM

So, anyone know if it's plug and play?

res0zsfa 04-19-2010 02:00 AM

mine is similar but blue leds.. the led strip was 20 bucks and to install it i paid 40 bucks.. its hooked up to a switch. very easy to do. no need to pay 300 dollars.

shumby 04-19-2010 02:38 AM

if it is like the G then it is a factory kit. and it is just as over priced for the G as well.

shumby 04-19-2010 02:39 AM

It comes stock on the FX50S

cconrado 04-22-2010 01:42 PM

cconrado 10-05-2010 10:33 PM

If you purchase this product from the company in this link the Nissan instructions will be included, BUT they will be in Japanese, and you will have to translate them, AND take into consideration any flip-flop accommodations for right to left hand drive.

cconrado 10-06-2010 06:14 AM

But will it work with the u.s. models?

kenchan 10-06-2010 03:15 PM

just get some red LED strips and hook them up. much cheaper and you have more flexibility.

SoCal 370Z 10-06-2010 03:20 PM

Someone here purchased a used 370Z and it had the Cube Nissan factory accessory interior light kit installed.

JB-370z 10-06-2010 03:37 PM

Where is bigaudiofanat when you need him???? He should have everyones answer and prolly be able to give directions on how to do it along with recomended part number's. I will send him a PM and see if he has any info!

kenchan 10-06-2010 03:40 PM

why make such a big deal for some red LED strips? :icon14:

you dont need part number and stuff. just go to auto parts store or walmart, wire up a switch and walla. hella rice. ;)

^^^^^^ Because this is a public informative forum and some folks dont know how to wave their majic wond and make it happen. Some need to know how to do this. And it would also be nice to hear from someone who has done it before with possible suggestions on known good parts. For we know, the "LED strips" from wally world could suck at life. I love how others on this forum are quick to add a smart *** remarks.

kenchan: "hella rice" <--Your comment---I understand you dont like this style, which it is not mine either but does not mean there are not others that would like to have this small tid bit of info.

@ JB-370z

here you go bud... i recommend getting like a 5 led strip.... whichever color you want.... sorry though i dont have a part number... honestly i dont think its a big deal on which led brand you get... because they arent suppose to be bright.... :D i used pilot brand LED strips on mine... :happydance: then just use 3m double stick tape and mount them under your dash.... make sure the wires are going to face the knee pillows... this comes in handy when you snake in the wires to wire them up... after that just ground the black wires to something metal.. and then tap the positive wire to you illum wire on the player... which is the orange and white wire... remember though i have a aftermarket player... so i have the harness to go with the new player  i dont know the color of the wire if you still have the stock harness... but yah thats how i did it JB :happydance: hope that helps bud :tiphat:

yah, but you are aware i have red LED strips under my seats, right? :icon18:

if you can't install these things just have a shop do it for you. it's super easy to do.

i got short 8" trips (through ebay) on each side so that luminance is at a minimum. i dont want to light up the entire footwell area like on a scion or something cause that might be 'cool' to some, i like to keep it low key. i rarely use it too.

the rocker switch i bought online... there was a thread on this here in the interior forum (it is one of the 3 rockers in the center console). :p

JB-370z 10-06-2010 04:42 PM

^^^^^^ Thanks homie. I dont think I will do this I was just trying to get the info for the ones that did want to do this. If I were to do this I would just do plain white, and I would only use them when needing to look for something in the dark hahaha thanks again Simota1

All good buddy :tiphat: Yeah "if" I were to do this it would not be something I would use often. But I know others on the forum like this kinda stuff....Im sure the LED lights last longer then the old school cold cathodes and neons.

kenchan 10-06-2010 04:46 PM

yah, neon's have a hard time firing up in cold weather so the LED's are definitely the way to go imho. :p

simota1 10-06-2010 05:21 PM

speaking of neons.... i remember back in the day... everything had to glow... even the engine bay HAHAHAHAHAHAH street glow...

no problem man... :tiphat:

honestly its a great lil mod too because at night... ive dropped my stupid phone on the floor numerous times and it was such a pain to find it lol because :roflpuke2: BLACK phone plus BLACK floor mats and BLACK carpet plus zero pitch BLACK lighting= swerving on the road tryna feel where my phone went lol.... now... i can just see it :happydance:

bigaudiofanat 10-06-2010 11:04 PM

There are a few ways you can have them turn on.

The first is you can integrate them into your dome lights using a relay or taping directly into them for the leds to light up when the door comes open.

The second is have a constant 12 volt source hooked up to the + and run the negative to the ground plug of the door switch. This will make the lights only come on when the door is open.

Also using a relay you can also add a 3 way switch and have the option to have them OFF-ON-DOOME LIGHT SWITCHED.

With a simple buy you have have them fade on and off. Will have to hunt that part down. SOME radio Shacks have them.

a370zlover 02-09-2011 04:45 PM

I just ordered some LED's for some mood lighting at the footwells like some of you have done... I'm thinkin the easiest place to wire them in would be the kickplates because i want them to only come on when the door opens and turn off when the door closes. Would I have to actually take the kickplates off or could I just find the wires in the footwells somewhere? Does anyone know where these wires would be without taking off the kick plates? Thanks

Baer383 02-09-2011 07:25 PM

If you go to auto zone and buy led strips(your color choice)they will stick under the dash by your feet and if you have lighted Z kick plates you can tie the wires into that so it goes on/off with the dome light/door.

a370zlover 02-10-2011 12:18 PM

ok um yes... led's ordered in my color choice like i said, they are led strips... perfect... here is my question, as mentioned... do i have to take the kickplates off to trace the wires myself or does someone already know where the wires to the kickplates are under the dash in the footwells? make sense what i'm asking?

They are under the sill plates one wire is red the other is white, you won't miss them they are the only two wires going to the kick plate. The Z kick plates don't need to be removed.

a370zlover 02-11-2011 07:46 AM

ok awesome, thanks man

cconrado 04-07-2011 10:01 AM

Anyone find out if it connects cuz i like the factory solution

Baer383 04-07-2011 10:19 AM

There is no connector you will have to splice into the sill plate which lights up the Z:tiphat:

Astrosfan 04-07-2011 01:01 PM

please no! :shakes head:

That seems pretty rice to me. You should probably put some neons under the car to really compliment the interior neons.

i used to think this too bro.... but then i found out nissan actually makes the mood kit and it costs 250 bucks LOL for ONE led.... thats right ONE LED or well two because one on each side.... the point of this mod is to add a subtle lighting over the foot area not to blind everyone with bright colors under the dash now that would be rice.... im running a 5 led strip not to bright looks pretty nice and better than 250 for one damn led lol to his own bro

cconrado 04-08-2011 06:10 AM

I just want everything the same like the color and all I wanna know is will hook up to the us models

Personally I have no interest in illuminating my feet and the crap that collects on my Weathertech floor mats.

DrEvil 04-08-2011 07:51 AM

Try this link. Had them in my '03 Accord coupe.
