Anyone use DYNAMATT to reduce road and exhaust noise?

Ive been thinking of using Dynamatt to reduce road noise and also the FI CBE im in the process of picking up. Do you think the interior noise would be reduced with Dynamatting the hatch section? What do you guys think?

why would you want to reduce exhaust noise?

i thought about doing it when i took off my muffler then i decided to not be cheap and buy an aftermarket that i knew wouldn't drive me to try and silence the noise i like hearing it in the cockpit but if you really want it yeah it will def. reduce the noise

my concern is to reduce road noise mainly. its nice having a quite cockpit when driving around. so anyone with experience using dynamatt should i only do the hatch or the whole car? thanks for all the help.

doing just the the whole trunk area will help a lot with road noise

thats what im thinking just the trunk area. because all the noise is coming from the rear anyway? so no one on the forum has done the dynamat?

I used dymamat extreme on everything from the seats back. I originally wanted to eliminate some rattles that showed up after after the exhaust install and get rid of the racket that takes place after driving over a bit of loose asphalt. All in all it worked out beautifully all rattles are gone and the rocks pinging the wheelwells is greatly reduced. Cruising on the highway theres much less road noise I think after I do the doors and a few areas up front ill be at luxury status. Also of coarse the bose sub in the spare thumps just a little bit harder though I dont use it much due to exhaust note addiction.

sounds great thaks for the your help. so you basically did the rear hatch seats back. thats what i was thinking about doing. how do you feel if i do under the seats as well?

It will be a pain as you would probably have to take the front seats out to get under the carpet. I plan on doing the front floors last if at all.

so its noticably quite with just the rear hatch section? Im concerned with the road noise and also it would be nice to have less exhaust drone in the cockpit as well. thanks

yes its definitly much quieter its hard for me to tell because the exhaust is loud but I can hear very little road noise over the exhaust. At about 70mph around 2.5k rpm in 6th everything have gotten alot quieter including the exhaust. A good example is befor I did it when driving in the rain I could hear the water spraying constantly in the wheelwells now I dont hear anything.

I am thinking of doing this too. The road noise isn't good. Once it's done I will be tempted to put a louder exhaust on though!

Am I right in thinking the dynamatt is very heavy though?

Yes its very heavy I think the dynamatt extreme is a bit thicker and heavier. Id say mine added about 30-40 pounds.

I forgot also dynamatt just came out with a new lightweight version forget the name.

I would also do the wheel wells if you wanted to reduce road noise. I guess it depends how much noise you want to get rid of, but using only the dynamatt alone will not do it. I would also use a layer of ensolite to get the full effect. If you're tearing everything out to do this, you may as well do it right the first time around. I used raammat on my old car and couldn't have been happier with the results.
