adding black vinyl to roof

I was wondering how others have installed vinyl to their roof's. Did any of you pull the A-pillars off to do it? I plan to remove the GPS antenna. I

Did any of you pull the A-pillars off to do it? I plan to remove the GPS antenna. I may remove the A-pillars as well unless someone has any tips to work around that. let me know thanks.
