Pretty sure he is talking about his stock headlights.

I have had mine installed since the first shipment. I have had NO regrets on getting these. They still look great and IMO look fine with my stock bumper and all. I aligned my headlight beams after installation, but with it being so dark now, I've had folks on the road flash their lights or even stop on backroads until I drive by. I even went back and lowerd the beam more, but I still the get occasional flash. So maybe their still pointed too high or maybe it's just bc their LED.
I also hear Morimoto is coming out with replacement housing lenses? So if you don't want to try and clean the OEM, you can just replace those. |
So I have a few more dumb questions.
1. Are the lights (headlight bulbs) a part of the headlights or are the bulbs replaceable, if they ever end up going out? 2. If it's a bulb, how many bulbs are there and which bulb would be needed? 3. Do the bulbs come with the headlights (I only ask this because I recently found the lights on AutoAnything.com and they claim the headlights done come with the bulbs)? |
Answer to 3 - Yes.

I've had my Morimotos installed for a few weeks and am overall very pleased. They perform WAY better than my yellowed OEM's. I did have an issue one day that was a little concerning where my right turn signal wasn't working. I thought it might be a bad connection to the headlight but the headlamps themselves were working fine and turning the car off and starting it back up resolved the issue. It hasn't happened since. Weird.

So just a heads up for anyone that didn’t know. I ended up calling Morimoto and talked to them about the lights.
It was like I thought, all of the lights are built into the fixture so the bulbs aren’t replaceable. I ended up ordering my set yesterday, hopefully they’ll be in next week. I’ll post pics once they are installed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
A good quality LED lamp will outlast your ownership of the car most likely.
|
The problem with my right turn signal has returned. Now I have to figure out if it's the headlight itself that is bad or if it's something with the wiring and I can't say I'm especially looking forward to this. I have a feeling it's the headlight itself so I'm pretty bummed out.

I really wished they'd do a chrome version.. le sigh

Has anyone looked closely at the areas just below the projectors? I’m starting to see some wrinkling of the paint. Looks like the start of other lights where the sun gets magnified by the projectors and melts the plastic/paint.

Along with the wrinkling of the housing below the lenses, here is a list of issue's I've sent to Morimoto, most of which I've noticed the past month or so.
1) This wasn't a big deal, and I overlooked this issue, but the first time after turning on the car and using the sequential turn signal, the LED strip only lights up about 2 - 3 inches. The second flash and any signal after that, the LED strip lights up all the way. This happens on both the driver and passenger side. 2) Upon inspecting my lights this past week or so, I've noticed the black paint/plastic below the projector lenses are starting to wrinkle. This is happening on both the driver and passenger side. I've read that other Morimoto assemblies have had this issue due to sunlight getting magnified by the lenses and melting the paint/plastic. I've tried to attach the best photos I could get of this. 3) Last week after running my car through the car wash, I noticed the DRL on the passenger assembly flickering. This stopped after about 30 min. of driving. I do not have a photo or video of this. 4) Last night I turned off my lights, and the top projector LED stayed on (did flicker some) while the other two LED's cut off. This is happening on the passenger side assembly. I've attached a photo and video of this. I've been in touch with Morimoto as Z1 said they wanted direct contact for warranty issues. They have agreed to replace them, but I am waiting for next steps. |

Not sure how many are still following this thread, but I did recieve replacements from Morimoto. Below are a few things I noticed during my install that I relayed to them. 1) The boomerang reflector on my original headlights was clear/white. The new one is orange. I think Travis made a comment about this and I'm guessing it's an update. 2) The sequential turn signal now travels the full length of the LED strip the first time where my old set would stop 2 - 3 inches up the first time, and be normal thereafter. 3) In order to get the sequential turn signal to work, I actually had to plug in the two connectors in the wiring harness. This is backwards of what my first set, and the instructions call for. 4) With my old set, the only time the lights would turn on, change in brightness, and then turn off is when my lights were set to off or auto and it was sunny. If it was dark, they would just cut on. Now even if it's dark, they cut on, change in brightness, cut off, then cut back on. Again, maybe an update? 5) The harness that was provided with the lights for the DRL was way too short to reach the fuse panel and the first light. I left in the longer harness that came with my first set. |
Good work. Thanks for the update.

I hope they make some variations of this. Or even a simple bi-LED conversion for the OEM housings. I just want the single projector. =(

I decided to give these a go aswell. Sick of polishing my OEM headlights.

I've got the wrinkle happening too. Guessing it was the sum of issues that warranted Taco's replacement, though. Regardless, seems like no guarantee yet that it's not going to happen on the next set.

Update:
I believe I have found the actual maker of the tails, a Taiwanese company called COPLUS. Video https://youtu.be/9jclBeGm6gE Wish they redesigned where the reverse lights sit and offer different housing color options. Blackout doesn’t appeal to me. EDIT I realize these are a diff design than the TAS sample, but 78works posted an instagram pic of a demo car using the COPLUS design |

I much prefer the TAS design over the COPLUS design, so I hope we have the option of either one

Depends on who is modifying and parts used. Halos, if are not a good quality, can burn out quick as well.

180 is good, no question. Would be my only choice, if I were ever to mod headlights (which I do not see myself doing).
|
|
Why is it so dang hard to pick what headlights to get. Such a pain.
|
180! It's been about 8 years on my halo and landing strip. One LED failed on the landing strip about 3 years after install. Fixed for free. Recently half of one halo failed. working on getting it fixed.
|
|
I'm digging the tails. Is it possible to disable the sequential feature?
|
Looks like $660 for the tailights?
|
i hate that one stray bulb that is on each outter corner. They should made that entire bottom section an LED strip that included the reverse light
Might take custom work to fix that |

I think the JDM tails still look far better. And I'm with OptionZero. That stupid corner lens/bulb just looks awkward... like it was an afterthought.
|
I suppose the cheapest solution is just not to plug that in, but until they’re out no way to tell how hard it will be to mess with these
I’ll wait till they’re out and see how they go |
