Window Tint peeling issue

Just wanted to vent because I had to take my Z in today to get the passenger side window tint fixed (started peeling in the corner). Dealership gave me a Versa as a loaner. Boy is it depressing.

Bright side: I can floor it for about 10 minutes and still be within the speed limit. NO chance of a ticket ::knock on wood::
Down side: A cute girl saw me walk out of it in the parking garage. FML.
Bright side: The visibility in the car is AMAZING compared to the Z heh.
Down side: Its a Versa.

I will pray tonight that the tint will be fixed and ready for pick up by tomorrow afternoon.

That's all. Just needed to vent my sadness of not having my car.

You played the cute girl thing wrong. You should have told her that your sports car was at home but you were driving the Versa to "be green."

Issue- the parking garage was at my apartment complex. haha

Haha it could be worse - they gave me a old beater sentra that was beat to hell when I dropped it off for my tint. They made up for it the next time and gave me a g35, though.

I drove a versa once, 0-60 in a minute or so, haha.

Hope you get your car back tomorrow!

There was a thread about this problem and a fix. Can't seem to find it though.

My tint is did the same thing on the passenger side at the front of the window. I took a sharp knife and cut the corner where it was peeling...you can't tell unless you know to look. Also, on the bright side, my tint came with a lifetime warranty. So, if it gets worst, which it doesnt look like it, I'll get it replaced.

You need to tell the tint shop (or dealer) to remove the door panel so they can get the tint down deep past the panel. otherwise when the widow seals after you have closed the door, it just chews up those corners.

same thing happened to my driver's side window this past weekend. I have to take it into the tint shop sometime to have them redo it.

vipor 01-07-2010 08:26 AM

a proper tint shop will slide a 1/2" or more of the tint into the door to prevent that problem. have had 0 issues with my tint, even accidentally rolled down the windows a few times when i first got it.

I have seen every Z window do that. I really don't think there will be a fix unless you cure it with a heat gun and don't touch the car for 5 days. I am don't even open the door. That corner is a tough one.

I got my windows tinted Dec. 23 and the car sat untouched for a week. Not sure if this will help or not but as of now I have no issues. We'll see.

I got my windows tinted by a reputable shop on Dec. 23 and didn't touch the car for about a week after. As of now I have no issues, but we'll see.

Yeah, we'll see if this fix today will do the trick. I won't be opening the windows of either side anytime soon, its bloody freezing in Dallas right now.

So far, I haven't seen any issues with the driver side tint, and I've rolled that one up and down much more than the passenger one, odd.

I just had mine done on Wednesday, we'll see if it starts peeling on me.
