Amuse Wing to APR?

Hi,

I'm thinking about switching out my Fly1 CF Amuse wing to an APR wing because I've heard that it has better function, so I've been toying around with getting the GTC300 or 250 paired with some custom front splitter / rear diffusers.

Does anyone know how well the APR wings do in terms of DF vs Amuse? or had experience with both on the track?

Side note: Amuse wing would leave a lot of holes.... would it be hard to patch it up

Unless you are serious about tracking your car and you actually need the functionality of a GT wing then just stick with the amuse wing. You would have to patch all the holes in your hatch left from the old wing and repaint the entire hatch. It would get pricey.

^^^Agreed! I switched out my Nismo wing for APR GT300 and had the holes patch and painted. It looks great and very functional on the track. If you got the cash then do it. I would spend money on your suspension and track time if you are just starting to track.

So I actually just swapped the same coloured base hatch with someone else who wanted to buy my amuse wing and installed the APR wing which was convenient and no cost. However I'm getting a little more understeer than I would like now even at 0 AOA..

Do you have any aero up front? If not add some to balance out the rear.

have the EVO R lip right now, cooltoy knows everything :P

but I have an amuse bumper coming in a couple months (or whenever amuse decides to make it), and probably adding an aeroblitz splitter or a custom made one to try to balance it out. there might be things I could do with the suspension in the rear too, or maybe more neg camber for better turn in

Do not put a wing on the rear unless you have a splitter and canards in the front. Because you will load the rear and lift the front at speed.

Don't even bother bro.. those splitters will not allow you to go over 100mph

They all squat when smashing the loud pedal. It's when you start to get up over 50 mph that things start to get interesting. The faster you go. The lighter the front will get with a wing and no splitter.

Down force from a GT wing versus a single element cosmetic wing is large.

The 09-14 nismo wing generates something like 150 lbs of downforce, i read that in an article a while back but can't find it anymore. Versus several hundred lbs of downforce generated by a GT wing. I've known people who have had to reinforce their hatch and had to put padding over the rear tail lights because the downforce was pushing the hatch down so much that the lights were cracking and the hatch was beginning to buckle.

Like everyone else said, don't run a GT wing without a chassis mounted front splitter. You won't be doing yourself any favors.

yeah sounds like the general consensus in this thread, I will probably only hit up one more track day until the bumper arrives, splitter's made and maybe canards

:iagree::iagree::iagree: I was just at ZDAYZ and discussing this point with another go fast brother as my paint has cracked on the hatch due to the force exerted on it. I will be reinforcing the hatch this summer lol!

Also, at above 100 mph even the Nismo wing quits producing downforce. To optimize downforce you need to lower the car at least an inch to 2 inches as well.
