370z Blank Button Solution
Hey everyone, I was just searching around for a solution to the blank buttons and what I could replace them with. I found these with usb but they also have a cover so in case of a water drop or something.

I actually have one of those used in one of the blanks for mine; got it from ebay from around $10-15.

That's actually pretty cool. Good find guys
|
Wow nice! Do you have link to the original listing or similar?

Hey I like that. Have the boom knob on one of them and this would be perfect for another. I'll see if I can find the eBay listing.
Any idea how many amps they put out? |
Here's the listing where I picked mine up at:
FOR NISSAN 350Z/370Z/SENTRA/TITAN DUAL USB POWER ADAPTER 12V DIRECT PNP UPGRADE | eBay ...as for how many amps it puts out, no idea; the most I've ever had connected to them were two phones. |

Well, the e-bay one looks the price. AS they say you get what you pay for.
|
Like I said: different price and lighting (by lighting, I mean LED color)... it's a dual USB port; cheap to manufacture and everything beyond that is markup. But, hey, if you want to pay $50 for something that doesn't cost $5 to manufacture to have a different sticker on it then I'm not going to stop you. Just trying to save you all some money.
|
Well if you want to insist, I think the more expensive one are "cleaner" more OEM looking.
The doors fro the USB ports are a particular difference on the more expensive ones, they are smaller/thinner and do not overlap the edges like the E-bay one do. http://nebula.wsimg.com/obj/OTZFNjRG...M4ZDA6Ojo6OjA= http://nebula.wsimg.com/obj/OTZFNjRG...JiMGY6Ojo6OjA= Versus. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/83MAAO...Oe/s-l1600.jpg |
Have to agree. Those are important attention to details.
One looks much more OEM. You get enough cheap easy looking pieces and your car will start looking like it was built from the accessory idle at Vatozone. |
Where did you tap the wires for power?
|
You can tap the cigarette lighter socket on the passenger side dash (under glove box)
On my car I removed that little socket entirely. |

I used add-a-circuits and terminal blocks for constant and ignition 12V that I tie to for all of my interior mods. Tapping an existing circuit is fine for a couple of things, but I think it's much cleaner to add circuits for your additional accessories and the extra work up front makes adding more accessories down the line a lot easier.

I'm getting this little cubby 3d printed. There are a few sites that will do it for you.

That seems pretty cool...unless I'm simplifying this too much? |
Yes, it's that simple.
|
USB was fairly new technology back 8yrs.. lol noone faking uses mini-usb nomore... my Hero2 in da Z uses mini-USB :ugh:
|
I still think the "Ejecto Seato, Bro" decal looks better on that button.
|
I just did this. But I'm thinking if changing it up to smoked glass engraved with a Z logo and possibly backlit red. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f02406e4eb.jpg

v2 would have a light up logo.:tiphat: |

That's sort of my plan. I actually bought that piece from a guy who makes them. Has a bunch of different styles and colors. I like the way it looks but now it's got the wheels turning, so I'll probably use it as a template to make some sort of backlit glass unit.

Now that is really cool!
I've been saying for a long time now that 3D printers should start making it possible for car enthusiasts to start designing their own interior replacement trim pieces to mod things. But I haven't seen too much of it happening.
This is great! But it made me think and you know what I'd like even better? I wish there was a variation of this cubby that had more of a slot in the bottom of it so an iPhone could slide into place in it, with the Lightning connector sticking up so it would plug in, docking into it. One of the annoyances I have with my 370Z right now is lack of any good place to put my iPhone 7 Plus. It's just a little bit too wide to stick it in one of the cup-holders. I can put it in the center compartment itself, but then it's not easily accessible - and I'm liable to forget it when I get out of the car. Quote:

I know, resurrect thread from the dead lol.
I see where people have just used the wires to the passenger side adapter. I am looking for one that has a feed even when the car is off. |

Just depends on how you wire it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I’ve seen people post pictures of the 3D print of the Button Delete and did not like how bland it looked. So i decided I’d make my own version, I made it where the bottom is attached afterwards so I can wrap it in alcantara fabric. I wanted it to look like something that Nissan should have installed for the Nismo model. I think it came out perfect
