Vortex generators? Opinions?
Gave these a thought. Just sat em on there at this point, just seeing how they look. I'm on the fence. What you guys think?

Don't hate it but it's not like "holy **** that's awesome" either
|
It is different though so I appreciate that

Looks like a bunch of GPS Antennas. I don't care for it.
|
I see these on corollas and honduh civics around here. No thank you.
|
Yeah, I liked them on my evo with a wing. Same thing with mud flaps. I wish they worked more with a 370.

i thought nissan's aircraft look was 4DSC?

I'm on the same page, doesn't look bad really, but looks a lot cheaper than I imagined it looking for some reason. Probably figure something else out to do with em. Just thought it would be different.

How many sat radios you got?

With the Nismo wing these things do actually work quite well from a down force perspective. Of course if you are not tracking the car, expect some HBO jokes. :P
|
Question: Are these on the Nismos racing in the Continental Series? One would expect all the teams would use them if they were that functional.
|
Well that series is cancelled via the dip$***** at Nissan, but I don't think they are allowed to do much besides factory aero anyway. I know a fair amount of evo and subie guys use them with factory aero.
These are for a car that has light spoiler/duckbill, light wing. With a full GT wing, they would be silly. |
Votrex generators do work but if they are not setup right they are useless drag and I am pretty sure no one here has the tools to set them up correctly.
|
evos only
|
Done properly it may help w/ aero. So if you track it may make sense. As for looks, my eyes says no. Your eyes may see roses. Have you seen the movie Shallow Hal?

Leave 'em for the EVOs

Vortex Generators ( VG's)
Reality is from an aerodynamic view point, yes they do work in many ways. However, only after about 75MPH do you get any gain. And for max gain, you need to have a rear diffuse panel installed as well. Air coming from the topside of the car swirls clockwise at the back of the car, air coming from underneath swirls counter clockwise in the same area. This creates disruptive turbulence. You want the air to pass over the car and under the car as smoothly and quickly as possible. This is what these two items do. In conjunction, down force is created. Which is always what you want for top speed and handling.

Four year old thread. Do you think anyone originally in it cares anymore?
