Pearl white paint issue

I was debating on a few diff colors white, grey and red.

I decided to go with white. Over the past few months ive noticed everytime i saw a white 370 in person on the road or in a parking lot that the bumper both front and back were off (did not match). I figured it was nothing major and just my eyes playing tricks on me with the lighting but it turns outt that tonight i went to a nissan dealer that had one in stock and as soon as i walked through the doors of the dealership my jaw hit the floor. The front bumper stook out like a sore thumb. Has anyone else noticed this??? Am i dreaming?

I noticed this as well. The sideskirts of the one at the dealership near me look off as well (not quite as noticeable on the skirts), but hey I'm the person that noticed the side mirrors are set at different angles too. Welcome to the OCD club.

ok well thats good. so im not the only one...

There is already a thread on this somewhere, but most Pearl White owners probably see this. Keep in mind that the plastic / metal parts are not painted at the same location or together and there will be color variance.

P.S. I have this also and I believe Caravan said he did as well.

Not only that, but different materials under the paint can make it look darker or brighter, even though the color applied is the same....

For example I think most of the plastic bits are flat black, where as the metal stuff, well, is metal (aluminum mostly)

mine match perfectly, as did the other 2 i have seen.

TacoZ 11-04-2009 12:46 PM

Mine is okay. Although I have a clear bra on so it does look a little off. Oh and you better clean bird **** off right away or else it leaves a yellow mark on your paint. Even though I have a coat of wax on it, it doesn't help. Only color i know that leaves a yellow mark.

g35300mm 11-04-2009 09:00 PM

wow... so what should i do guys? i want the white but if its one of those roll the dice things? because it doesnt seem like everyone is having this problem. just maybe half the people who buy white.. but how do i know if that will be me or not? i will need to have the car ordered regardless. so how will i know if my cars bumpers and bottom panels will be a good enough match.. i wanted to really get white but looks like i might just settle for grey.

Caravanshaka 11-04-2009 09:32 PM

my skirts are off, my bumpers are perfect....you don't have to accept the car when it comes in if it doesn't look perfect, complain enough and they'll respray it. I didn't notice it really until I started taking pictures of the car, it shows up more in pics than in RL.

Mine are fine...the mud flaps are slightly different but that is to be expected. Aside from that mine matches perfectly. When I was at the dealer I actually checked for that because I was deciding between a black or white 370...

The bumpers are urethane and the rest of the car is steel and aluminum. The paint is going to have a different look depending on what material it's painted on.

Yeah I think my side skirts are a bit off and my mudflaps are because they aren't pearl I don't believe. Never bothered me and most of the time you can't tell unless the light is right.
