the bumpers and side skirts arent the same material as the rest of the car, thats why the paint is usually off on them. I just got my whole repainted and there are slight differences in color from the front bumper to the hood and front fenders.

NONE of the panels match eachother exactly on white. Not sure if you got the splash guards with your 370, but those do not even come close to matching. The side skirts are also fairly noticeable, but I personally think the front and rear bumpers are not that bad under most lighting conditions.

hey man i have a a black 370, and i dont have color distortion, but our paint is not that good, alot of people already have clear coat blisters and such.

yes, different materials cover differently. The problem is that these are all factory painted, on an assembly line.

Any GOOD paint shop can match a color no matter what it is. The shop that repaired my wreck said they'd respray my skirts and match them perfectly for $500...I'm looking into getting nissan to cover at least half of that.

I hear you.

My G/f has a pearl white mazda 3gt and shes gotten hit a few times and mann have we had problems with body shops getting the paint right. I dont need the headache on a brand new car i have to dish out $45,000 CDN. im going with Carbon silver... or as you guys know it PG.

Thanks for your input and help every1

Im looking a little more closely at all the white z's on this forum.. and the bumpers allll look off? do you white z owners not see this? you mean to tell me you cant tell? come on.

lighting plays a huge roll in the color... at dusk is the worst time..

but with my car (the thread that mod posted) they repainted my rear bumper and it came out perfect imo... I havent gotten a chance to go and try to get the front sprayed but im pretty sure they will...

There was another white on the lot and its paint was almost perfect but it was an auto and that was not what I was looking for...

The Reds sometimes have darker bumpers, yellow ones can be off... The silvers and blacks seem to match good but the guy at the dealership said the darker silver comes in off sometimes too...

this happens on GTRs too which cost double the amount of our 370's. I dont completely understand why they dont correct this issue and i dont remember it being as big of an issue with the PW 350s or G35s.

My brother has a white Z and his are perfect

It would serve anyone well in their life if they could be a little less critical of stuff as superficial as something like this.

It only shows up in pictures because of lighting or flash (because of the pearl). In real life I can't tell the difference.

Does anyone know if they fixed the color issue in later years? (i.e. 2010 or 2011?) Or is this all just at random if it matches or not.

+1

white isnt the only color that has color variations.... its just more noticeable under certain lights.

My friend works in autobody and he told me it will never be exact as long as the materials are different.

JJ-NISMO 02-25-2011 01:26 PM

I went to a body shop to have something looked at, and while talking with the guy, he pointed out the difference in color between the bumpers and body paint on my PG 370z. He said that all cars will have some variance and it really depends on tha manufacturing process. It relates to the fact that the paint is being applied to two different types of materials, at different points in time, by different people. He said that even if done in the same place at the same time, the different in material would cause color variation. The color change is probably just more noticeable on a pearl color, especially white, but on most cars, at night, if you take an LED light you can see the difference.

k20z3 02-25-2011 01:56 PM

WHITE cars never have matching paint on bumpers my celica had the same issue.

k20z3 02-25-2011 01:58 PM

Im sure its the way the light refracts off the paint under lighting conditions with the type of material as others have said, the bumper is plastic body is metal. Light refracts differently.
