What are you looking for?

Hey Guys,

Well, now that the front splitter/spoiler is nearly completed we are about to begin development on our fascia and I was wondering what your thoughts are on a few subjects.

Do you like the fangs or do you want to get rid of them?

Do you like the fangs but you would be willing to sacrifice them for better cooling (brakes, engine oil, radiator, possible intercooler?)

What is more important to you guys? This will greatly help us come to a complete design that everyone is happy with.

Thanks for your input!

kenchan 11-02-2009 03:42 PM

i like the fangs and want to keep a little bit of the frontal portion while blackening/cf-ing the rest. not sure if that makes any sense...but i dont want to completely blackout the fangs.

theDreamer 11-02-2009 03:51 PM

I like the fangs, they have become a part of the car I never expected to like this much (always liked them but also wanted to do the black out).
I think adding performance/cooling without giving up the fangs would be best.

azn370z 11-02-2009 03:53 PM

I do not like the fangs and I think the grill should be more narrow. I think something similar to the nismo ver 1 350z bumper would look good. Hopefully it won't be a long nose.

phelan 11-02-2009 04:05 PM

You grow to like the fangs. They're iconic of the Z34 now, and I wouldn't get rid of them so easily. If needed, maybe reduce the size of the fangs??

XwChriswX 11-02-2009 04:16 PM

I think the fangs are just what I was looking for (plus the revision of the headlight housings) to give the front end a more aggressive and distinctive look. If you were to remove them, they would look 90% just like the 350Z who's body styling I didn't approve of. Hence why I passed on the 350 and am jumping for a 370.

As for better cooling/Intercooler, Is there a way to make it functional while still keeping the Fangs? Perhaps using them fuctionally to split the incoming air into 3 channels. Perhaps 1 in the center for direct intercooler action, and one on each side to use as either direct intake chambers, or as syphoned air for the cooling of the front brakes as we've seen some elaborate ideas come from this thought process...

JoeD 11-02-2009 04:17 PM

Here are some Photoshop renderings courtesey of members of another forum just to get some ideas flowing for fangless styles. In terms of "keeping" the fangs...I think options for design will be somewhat limited, perhaps with an end-result looking too similar to a molded Bomex/Branew/NISMO/et al lip-spoiler onto a stock bumper.

RCZ 11-02-2009 04:32 PM

Please get rid of the fangs....if you want fangs keep the stock setup. I was hoping you would do a full front fascia soon, so this is great news.

As far as design... my suggestion would be to do a single big opening. Like the nismo. Make it a little bit longer and lower nose than the stock setup. Like the Nismo. Built in the bottom splitter. I think the Nismo is a pretty good design....if you do a variation of it with room for canards.. I would buy it.

Zsteve 11-02-2009 06:10 PM

I like the fangs but like RCZ said if you like them then keep the front stock. I personally dont like the single open end but if I was looking to make this car a track monster that might be needed for more air flow. I honestly love the whole exterior of the 370 and that and the power is what made me go for it. I even like the handles.

I would think you can do the IC, oil and trans cooler with stock front end.

I like the fangs.

I'd like a bolt on kit for adding ducts to cool the brakes. The out board lower side of the fangs look to be a great place to add this type of ducting.

Thanks!

KaienZ34 11-02-2009 07:38 PM

I love the fangs, a lot of people are saying make it like the nismo.. If they want the nismo look get the S-tune or R-tune parts and put them on. I say it would be beautiful to keep fangs my GOD get rid of the nissan emblem on the front and smooth it out .... and maybe fog lights and brake vents but KEEP THE FANGS PLEASE there different and give the car a unique look

kevin.z 11-02-2009 08:12 PM

keep the fangs and make it bigger!

KaienZ34 11-02-2009 08:38 PM

maybe someting like the front bumper (not to minition the hot *** hood) from the concect pics done by EVO-R can someone put the pic up i counld not get it to work thx it is in the thread labeled EVO-R 370Z carbon fiber center bumper cover please put that photo shop pic of the whole car that's what i'm talking bout it keeps the fangs gives great air to the brakes and has fog lights not to crazy but hot for sure hotttttttttttt

RCZ 11-02-2009 10:16 PM

the front end just ends too abruptly, it should be a little longer and it will look good. I dont know what the point of getting something with fangs would be when the stocker has fangs still. Why make the same thing? I'm confused. Im not sure why people said get the S-tune if I want something different when the S-tune kit is just an add-on and keeps the fangs. What the heck is an R-tune???

The Amuse looks great.

Do a 3 duct like M3's or like this S2k, or like the INGS STI. I mean, if you are going to take the time and money to build a kit, build something that people won't say "oh thats cool, but looks like stock so whats the point. "

KaienZ34 11-02-2009 10:49 PM

if you lose the fangs, then it looks like everything else out there

this is EVO-R concept art I love they kept fangs and have fog lights/air ducts for the brakes and Gen. 3 intake and it's hot hot hot

RCZ 11-02-2009 10:53 PM

Oh sorry, I didn't know that the Nismo 370z is called the R-tune... What does R-tune stand for again? I hope its not race-tune.

And if you lose the fangs it doesnt look like everything else. It looks like a 370z without fangs...aka better.

Before this turns into a bitching contest, I will say this is just my opinion, you may have a different one...lets keep it civil.

There is no r-tune 370z body kit. r-tune is how nissan labels their parts to let consumers know it is not street legal.

DannyGT 11-02-2009 11:09 PM

Never heard of the Nismo car called the R-Tune...its just the Nismo 370...and the lip kit is the 370z S-Tune

Anyway - I think a mix between the Amuse and that subtle looking white one all the way up top would be a slick look

KaienZ34 11-02-2009 11:43 PM

I'm sorry ya'll are right .. I don't know where i read that but i do apololgize for the wrong info

Bster 11-03-2009 02:39 AM

No fangs with a front splitter and canards.

I will do a few photoshops for you kyle so we can have a few more idea on front bumpers till then here are some of my ideas as well as others:

I am very interested in a front fascia that can provide sufficient airflow to any sort of cooler located in front of the radiator.

^red one looks good

Spot on! I've always been a Z fan, but to me, the 350z was just lacking something..it didn't have that tuff look...looked more timid. The 370 design with the fangs added what the Z sorely needed which was some in kick your @ss looks.

As far as the nismo design....it's sooo 350z to me! Nismo is really a step backwards in design as far as looks go. Too non-aggressive looking. I'll take the stock fangs any day over the nismo girly look. :stirthepot:

Kyle@STILLEN 11-03-2009 02:10 PM

Thank you very much for all of your input! I greatly appreciate it and it will help us design the best body kit possible.

It sounds to me like you guys want something aggressive still. Even if it did away with the fangs but still looked aggressive then it would be a winner?

Our number one focus is going to be on function with this fascia. We want to make sure that we pull additional air for better cooling!

RCZ 11-03-2009 04:01 PM

Awesome, yes, no fangs + aggressive + functional (flow and df) = win. Optional canaards would be nice too.

The other thing to discuss is length. I think it should be a little longer and lower than the stock bumper. To me, the stock one seems to end too abruptly and too high near the hood line. I think that will help lessen drag by reducing front surface area...which means easier high speed cruising, better gas mileage and downforce. Discuss.

bullitt5897 11-03-2009 04:51 PM

I agree ^^^ If we were to lower the front and bring the nose further forward we can lessen the drag issue. Now by adding a front diffuser we can address the down force issue. Also if we were to open smaller side intakes and possibly side exhaust vents we could add to the cooling factor. but this is all speculation of course. Heat extraction hood would work very well with a concentrated center airflow through the nose :D

G Fo12ce 11-03-2009 09:29 PM

I say ditch the fangs. Those who want them can keep the stock facia and do a lip spolier.

Always liked the Nismo Version 2 on the 350, looks similar to what Bster posted with one center airdam. I beleive it was styled after the Super GT Z and had ducting to breaks, oil cooler ect.

Zele makes a pretty nice kit too:

bullitt5897 11-04-2009 11:41 AM

Now I dont particularly agree with this photoshop someone did but I think the Front bumper may have some merit and looks pretty darn good on its own:

What do yall think?

Snakebite202 11-04-2009 01:19 PM

Definately do away with the fangs for the lonve of god!

LiquidZ 12-01-2009 11:04 PM

:hello:

jmlenz 12-01-2009 11:29 PM

get rid of the fangs! If you like the fangs but want something more aggressive...good news! you have like 10 lip kits already on the market...some that even excentuate the fangs.

Make a fangless facia with functional air vents (perfect fit for your G3s) above the main grille opening, built in diffuser/splitter, a little longer and lower like others mentioned, and something that follows the fender arch line ala Nismo bumper...but much meaner

Kyle@STILLEN 12-17-2009 06:54 PM

OK guys so I am having a really difficult time keeping a tight lid on this one but the front fascia is going to be AMAZING!!!

We are bringing more technology and development into this front fascia than we have ever done before!!! Everyone's input has been instrumental in the development of this body kit and I'm telling you it is turning out to be one of the most exciting front fascia's we have ever developed.

I can't say too much but I can tell you that this is the first time in our companies history where we have actually brought our engineers over to the design studio to see what they can make work in conjunction with the fascia and the improved airflow!!! Just wait until you see what we're coming up with it is incredible!!!

Sounds great, I really can't wait to see it and I'm assuming the engineers directly related with the SC are giving some input about what they need in terms of flow. That's pretty exciting for those of us who are planning to pick up an SC. I also really really need a front bumper already, I'm getting tired of seeing mine all scratched up. In for this one too.

Gonna release around the same time as the S/C?

Kyle@STILLEN 12-17-2009 07:52 PM

ETA is probably within the next 60 days or so...I'm sure it'll be substantially less than that, but I want to give myself some room in case there are any hang ups.

Yes, increased airflow to the Gen 3's, and additional coolers is a big consideration on this fascia.
