Razo makes auto shift knobs. Here is a pic of mine.

why do you need a shift knob on an auto? :p Will it make parallel parking faster? D->R->D->P

I kid I kid, enjoy the mod.

KaienZ34 07-05-2011 10:43 AM

Same reason MT guys change their's....the look.

EYE ESS 07-05-2011 10:54 AM

It's not purely for looks with stick though, some people choose weighted knobs for a more positive shift feel. Some go with lighter knobs and short shift kits. Either way they change the gear throw feel significantly. :)

KaienZ34 07-05-2011 11:01 AM

True but not all MT shift knobs do something, some are just for looks. When i had my 6MT 370 i had the b&m short throw shifter, but i still had to change the knob for looks.

no, that's not why I changed it... I did it because the OEM one is big and ugly... this one sits alot lower.

zuperman 370 07-05-2011 11:35 AM

test fitted the GT-R knob today fits perfectly check out the pics, just needs fabraction if you want it to sit lower, but if ur happy with how it sits that this knob will fit perfectly right on in a matter of minutes :D

I looks very cool, if i do the gtr shifter and a nice boot i won't have to get it to sit low.

EYE ESS 07-05-2011 03:06 PM

I'm more confused now, why do you need a shift boot on an auto? Wouldn't that block out the shift pattern if you take your car for valet or if someone else is driving? I can understand the shift knob though I guess, but the boot kills me.

Here is a pic of an auto with a boot, it's not needed it will just dress up the area if you don't want to cut the shaft to make it lower. If someone else drives your car and doesn't know the auto gear pattern of P-R-N-D, then they shouldn't be driving at all.

EYE ESS 07-06-2011 07:53 AM

I like the one with the Razo knob, looks classy.

KaienZ34 07-06-2011 09:22 AM

That's a G not a Z but it does look good.

EYE ESS 07-06-2011 12:58 PM

Thats an aftermarket boot on the G as well?

Gear display is shown digital on the lower portion of the tach P-R-N-D and the gear you are in is shown in manual mode. I am thinking about installing a boot just to clean up the look of the shifter. The giant circle with small selector slot just looks ugly to me.

KaienZ34 07-06-2011 06:21 PM

jtgarza3 07-06-2011 06:29 PM

thats what im going to do i just ordered one, with the silver and carbon fiber in the middle, will post pics when its done

KaienZ34 07-06-2011 06:54 PM

Cool deal.

dudesky 07-07-2011 11:18 AM

guys, but that RAZO knob doesn't have a safety button...I heard if the safety button is being keep pressed down for a long time, you get some light that says you gotta release it and car won't even start??? That's y I couldn't order any knob that has no safety lock button.

jtgarza3 07-17-2011 08:17 PM

so i went ahead and tried out the Razo knob, and i just got my shift knob installed. I like it way better then the stock one, Its shorter and feels alot better. Also i did not get a light and the car started with no problems. Here are some pics.

looks good. Needs a shift boot.

Econ 07-17-2011 10:05 PM

i approve!

dudesky 07-18-2011 11:13 AM

that looks sick!!! woooooooow I thought a knob with no safety button will give me a trouble but I guess not! so I'm guessing a regular knob for manual cars can also be fitted to our 7AT?

KaienZ34 07-18-2011 11:18 AM

I think it looks badass, i'm not sure about the no button on the knob though. I'm gonna wait and see after he rolls a few miles and updates us.

dudesky 07-18-2011 11:23 AM

Hey jtgarza3, so I guess
Password JDM Balanced Shift Knob Nissan 370Z RED | eBay

Im not sure if that will fit. The one i have has it to where u press down on the knob to let you change from park to drive, as how pressing the button on the stock one would let you change gears. Inside the knob is a spring which lets you press the knob down.

So if you don't push down on the top of it. It will NOT let you put it from park to drive or reverse? If so then that's all i needed to hear.

Correct

KaienZ34 07-19-2011 09:32 PM

Kickazz, now to find enough pennies for it.

dudesky 07-20-2011 01:52 AM

hey jtgarza3. so that Razo knob has a safety button? I don't see it? I thoght that knob you got has no safety button. where did u get it? link please?? thank you :)

dudesky 07-20-2011 02:07 AM

I don't get it lol wait, so instead of button, since that Razo has no button, you press down the whole knob and eventually that's samething as you pressing down a button on a stock knob right?

docaam 07-20-2011 04:52 AM

this looks sick man, much better then GTR one

Baer383 07-20-2011 10:45 AM

Some of these different style of Razo knobs have been discontinued.

I ordered a RA-89 all silver knob haven't got it yet still remains to be seen if I get it.

No longer available!!!!

kenchan 07-20-2011 11:46 AM

yah, that razo looks great. i remember having a very similar one long time ago on my AT car and i liked how i could adjust the height on them. :)
