Any updates?

FringeXVO 10-11-2011 08:33 PM

There will be soon. Right now I am focused on getting a unique set to Dubai for a vehicle in the Dubai International Auto Show this November. That's huge exposure. I will upload renderings of the new Z tip soon.

NewlyIMPORTed 10-11-2011 11:23 PM

not my style at all but I am really glad to see someone using their creativity to keep things fresh in the community! +1 to you!

FringeXVO 10-25-2011 02:49 AM

Here is something a little different. Hmmm...this MAY be the new Z tip. Final finish is not on them. These are just brushed stainless.

The Fringe "F" is cut all the way through, as indicated by the gleam from the flashlight.

Look for these on display at the Dubai International Auto Show this November.

I like!

What is the OD?

NeverBoneStck 10-25-2011 09:08 AM

I might put this on the g...

wstar 10-25-2011 09:39 AM

To get the full effect you need to merge this with one of those spark plug exhaust flamethrower kits :) e.g. Exhaust Flame Thrower Kits – Flamethrowers For Cars, Motorcycles, Trucks & SUV’s

fuct 10-25-2011 10:14 AM

kenchan 10-25-2011 10:14 AM

I have a question though, dont you see that the tips are kind off tall and might stick out of the body? and what is the diameter of outer pipe? it looks small imo

Look at the GTR's tips, they are PERFECT!! not huge, not tall and not ricey

just my 2 cents

:iagree:

FringeXVO 10-25-2011 10:53 AM

They are 1.75 lbs. Outer tubing is 4"x4", inner tubing is 3", same taper as the GTR tips, just 1" smaller OD. 6" measured from tip to tail. These pictured are made to clamp onto 2.5" tubing, so the clamp tube is 2-5/8" OD.

XwChriswX 10-25-2011 05:49 PM

Those look so crazy. I mean seriously it looks like a jet nozzle lol.

If our cars had a single center exit exhaust, there would be no question I would get this. :rofl2:

FringeXVO 10-25-2011 11:25 PM

Ready for shipping wearing a smoke brushed finish.

We'll have pics of the GTR tips set in black chrome in the next two weeks.

Welcome to Fringe XVO

ZSIZZLE 10-25-2011 11:43 PM

very nice but i dont i understand what takes so long to get pics of such a simple to install mod

FringeXVO 10-26-2011 04:33 AM

@ zsizzle: There are several factors involved, one being that the initial installation fell through when the owner of the car decided to sell it. We got a lot of feedback through that experience and decided to redesign the tips. You are seeing some of this now...we may use this tip we designed for the Raptor, just slightly modified. Many of you have chimed in on the tip that was originally put forth, and so we're looking for your responses again.

XwChriswX 10-26-2011 05:46 PM

Will the GT-R version still have quad tips, or will you just have 2 larger ones instead?

FringeXVO 10-27-2011 12:23 AM

@ Chris: A GTR set of Afterburner tips consists of 4 tips (5" OD tapering to just over 4") and 4 Accuseal Torca exhaust clamps...or the stock tip clamps can be re-used.

Weight correction: These last tips are 1lb12oz (1-3/4lbs) each. Shipped weight of package of two tips with two clamps is just under 6 lbs.

XwChriswX 10-27-2011 07:26 PM

Do you only do the tips, or is there something more you can do i.e. making a combination pipe that brings both together for a Single Exit exhaust for a Z?

FringeXVO 10-27-2011 08:24 PM

I am personally capable of just about anything and am very practiced with thinwall tubing, but I am equipment limited.

FringeXVO 10-27-2011 10:40 PM

All 3 versions of the tips that have been made are pictured here, except for the new production model GTR tips.

XwChriswX 10-28-2011 12:27 AM

I really like the top one.

Rooskey 10-28-2011 12:57 AM

I really like the top one aswell.. The smoke brushed finish looks great. What are the exact dimensions of this tips outside diameter and diameter of the tip where it necks down at the exit?

FringeXVO 10-28-2011 01:26 AM

We are glad to hear it. Every tip pictured since post 84 is the same two tips. The "orange" tip looks that way because of sunlight from a sunset that was shining into the room. I love it.

We are gonna post in the general forum that we are looking for someone in the Austin area to help us hurry up and get this design finalized. If you know anyone who might be interested, send them our way. There's a deep discount in it for whoever helps us out. One requirement: They must have an aftermarket exhaust with removable tips on 60mm pipes.

Dimensions are:
Outer tubing starts at 4" OD and tapers down to 3.125" OD
Inner tubing is 3" OD
All tubing is .0625" wall thickness
Tips clamp onto 2.5" exhaust system tubing

G37sHKS 10-28-2011 04:19 AM

Arg!! Why cant you be here in Dubai,

You could of used my HKS exhaust!!

I think most of HKS owner will jump on these tips since the HKS tips are single layout

FringeXVO 10-28-2011 09:04 AM

Which HKS System are you talking about? Legamax or Hi-power? Both? Neither?

G37sHKS 10-28-2011 09:16 AM

Im talking about Hi-Power for 2 reasons.

1) Legamix is not available for G37 Coupe
2) As far as I know, All HKS exhaust owners in this forum have the Hi-power

FringeXVO 10-28-2011 06:35 PM

Outstanding. Thanks, G.

FringeXVO 11-02-2011 01:37 AM

GTR Afterburners have officially arrived.

Still looking for a local Austin car, although I'm able to utilize just a tip for an HKS, Akropovic, or any other removable tip by itself. Anybody have one of these laying around? Damage is likely not a problem.

FringeXVO 12-05-2011 10:55 PM

I know there has been a lot of delay here, and I apologize. We've had a lot going on. I thought I should share a few pics showing what we've been so distracted with. :) Cheers.

Oh my. That looks so amazing! Wow.
Great job guys.

kevr6 12-06-2011 05:16 PM

That looks great!! I'm thinking they look so good due to them being two twin exhausts close together like on a jet fighter. I would still like to see them on a Z.

FringeXVO 12-06-2011 07:08 PM

There are several jets that have a single engine... :) It'll look great, trust.
I'll update again when the prototype tip designs have been finalized. There are so many steps that have to happen before we all get to see them installed.

FringeXVO 12-11-2011 06:29 PM

Alright, I know there are a few of you that are following this and we thought you'd like to give your input on what is shaping up to be the finalized design candidates. Here are two artists renderings of the Afterburner tip that will bolt onto an HKS exhaust section that has the removable tubes. Positive or negative, the input is always welcome, as long as it stays respectful. Thanks everyone.

RoshDawg 12-11-2011 10:06 PM

So these will not fit on stock tips or other exhaust systems?
I think they are a work of art. Gorgeous. Really cannot think of any way to improve them at all.
