id guess OP is around 3400 lbs with driver. at 371 rwhp and with these cars having around 17.5% drive train loss, thats 450hp. trap should be around 118 mph but its not. traps at the moment are showing about 330 rwhp or 400hp.

Well, considering his first trap speed of the day was 107mph with a 14.4, does that mean he magically gained horsepower for his final run? No, of course not.

Physics is much more complex than you make it out to be. If he's not accelerating due to poor traction, then his final velocity is going to be lower than it could be if he had excellent traction. A 2.3 60 ft time is abysmal and clearly a traction/launch issue...certainly not a horsepower issue. Just remember that those 1/4 mile calculators you find on the internet are way oversimplified and don't account for all the little details like gear ratios in each gear, shape of the torque band (remember torque accelerates a car: not horsepower), coefficient of drag, cross sectional area, air viscosity, shift times, number of shifts that must occur, etc.

It would be nice if @1slow370 would put up his time slips so we can see all the metrics. That will give us a better idea of when he finally gets enough traction to actually put the power down.

Also, I have zero investment in this project, other than seeing what this motor is capable of...it never ceases to amaze me. I wish my car had VVEL. lol

I'd love to see a few runs with stickier tires!

No that's not true a 480 hp CBA (2009-2011) GT-R will trap 120 mph.
The DBA (2012-2014) 545 hp GT-R will trap 125.

And those cars come in at 3800 pounds.

phunk 11-16-2014 05:42 PM

its much easier to compare trap speeds in cars that are stock and setup appropriately as far as gearing, drivetrain, and suspension to use their power. Or even cars that have had several trips to the drag strip and had their setup refined. I wouldnt think too deeply about timeslip details for a car that has only seen the track once.

Z eliminator 11-17-2014 08:25 AM

My best trap was 114.7

Carbon_z 11-17-2014 10:46 AM

would have loved to see this stroked out :) crazy nice build btw

Jordo! 11-17-2014 11:10 AM

Final gear affects trap speed too -- taller tire profile alone can make a difference above and beyond power.

STD does tend to be overly generous relative to SAE, but I'm sure its still in the upper 350's at the worst. I'd like to see SAE numbers too just to compare and contrast.

1slow370 11-17-2014 01:12 PM

A gtr is over 4k with driver and 1/4 tank. Traps are very dependant on the traction z eliminators times prove this, he has higher traps than several fi cars that have +100hp on him.

this is pretty cool... do you mind sharing how much you're into it so far?

edk370 11-18-2014 01:21 PM

Impressive indeed! I prefer NA over FI...But if Nissan were to build it like that stock, the 370 would be a $50K car to say the least. That's like Porsche's formula for engineering a reliable 12-sec car without V8 or turbo...Must've cost you a pretty penny.

Elmo370z 11-18-2014 01:54 PM

Considering his one off parts, I would say at lease 12-15 thousand. Put it this way if he went F.I. he would have a 700 horsepower Z (E-85 tune) of course. Kuddos to 1slow370 for sticking with NA.

Jordo! 11-19-2014 12:52 PM

^^^ The biggest expense had to be the dry sump. That's at least 5K in the box...

Elmo370z 11-20-2014 07:22 AM

Yes you right. Damn near price of a stillen supercharger kit lol.

1slow370 11-24-2014 05:25 PM

Ok so I made a feeler for sale thread probably won't sell it but If someone is serious enough I may consider it, there are a couple of other projects I might like to take up.

Kingbaby 11-28-2014 12:42 AM

Crazy...

Dang more threads to read. Nice NA build

Kingbaby 11-29-2014 04:02 PM

Can we get more media coverage of this thing

Eclipz 11-29-2014 08:36 PM

need some red line acceleration videos

Elmo370z 11-29-2014 10:52 PM

:iagree:

1slow370 11-30-2014 02:17 AM

Somebody in my area got a go pro?

Edit: socal in the ie, free ride to whoever takes the video.

Elmo370z 12-01-2014 06:48 AM

Sounds good just LMK.

1slow370 12-01-2014 12:30 PM

I'm switching back over to 91 octane this week so it will be slightly slower.

1slow370 12-01-2014 12:38 PM

then the question will be who's good at editing it?

1slow370 12-01-2014 05:49 PM

I did a bunch of cleanup to the first page, got rid of some of the superfluous photos and condensed the videos.

Kingbaby 12-02-2014 12:11 AM

I made all my videos with an iPhone

An iPhone

!!! Screw the gopro phones are strong enough to record and edit video

depends are you willing to buy it and part it out? also FP you are like 5th in line for the manifold, oh and it cost $3500

DEpointfive0 12-03-2014 05:52 PM

If you want the manifold, you need the dry sump. By that time, you might as well just buy the damn car

well they could always get creative with the oil filler but yeah. you would also need the rails/lines, and a tune so yeah, for what you could sell a z for and how much just the manifold costs you might as well buy the car.

Elmo370z 12-03-2014 06:25 PM

Why do all this work and sell it??? I don't understAND

1slow370 12-03-2014 06:53 PM

life tends to F you in the A sometimes, right now I'm cutting the bleeding before it gets too bad. If I had the car paid off I would keep it for sure but unfortunately I don't and while I am still above water it's a good time to sell.
