Jeez us what a thread, didn't read all of it, started at this page.
I think they told him 6 quarts because the car takes 5.125 quarts.

I agree with all of you WRT PL14610. Probably no harm no foul. It would be a prick move on Nissan's part but look what happened in another post in this thread. A poster called the dealer and mentioned Purolator and they weren't too receptive to that idea.:tiphat: so one could only surmise they could be all over a wrong part number given an opportunity. Until mine is out of warranty or I trade for a C7 I'm using what is specified, M-108's, OEM and PL14612's.

I'm shocked this thread has gone on this long. Usually oil threads get shut down in a hurry. Mods must be on vacation.

What part? The weight, filter or oil type? Rotella synth is what my shop recommends as well, and I've used it for years on other cars.

The 15w40 is a bit out there. I was recommended a 5w40 as opposed to the stock weight.

I've never been a fan of fram filters.

Amen brotha. The Frame oil filter is what came with the oil cooler, so it's being used now. I'll probably switch to something better like K&N as my oil filter.

I.B.T.L. My 2 cents. :D Mobil 1 0w40, PurOne filter.

I've done some searching and haven't seen much. What's everyone's thoughts on the Nismo filter?

MacLean 12-25-2013 12:14 PM

I like to use snake oil & jet fuel for my car. I also love lamp.

I'm messing with you guys.

So I have run a few oils in the z. The previous owner ran redline 5w-30 so I tried that first. I had no complaints other than it was pricey and seemed to darken quickly at around 3000 miles. I switched to Mobil 1 0w-40. The vvel sounds just as quiet as it did with redline and the oil temps were similar to redline (220max w/cooler) but it burned about a quart every 1000 miles. After 3 changes I got tired of constantly buying oil and decided to switch to what I ran in my 350z. Shell rotella t6 5w-40. This oil takes a bit longer to warm up and the vvel tick is louder when cold but once it warms up it is as quiet as the previous 2. Max temp is very similar but it seems the temp spikes faster. The plus side is I am at 3000k miles and it only burned about a 1/3 of a quart. I am impressed so far and I will update this with my impressions once the summer months come and see how it deals with this Atlanta heat.

As far as filters I run the mobil 1 m-108. The m-110 does not fit with my thermostatic plate. But I am currently using a Bosch d+ from a recommendation on bitog and a nice amazon rebate.
