did notice last night that the grinding sound may be related to the shift knob, nothing to do with the ATF change or cooler install.

My friend told me it might be related to the bearing which connects the shift knob to the transmission. how do i fix this? many thanks

When you are driving slow - shift slowly
When you are mashing it - shift FAST

i havent taken the car to the dealership or anything i havent heard the grinding issue at all just went away by itself. The only other issue im having with the car is when its extremely cold out in the 20's i drive the car till it warms up completely turn it off and start it back up right away and it sounds like the starter is grinding. The dealership replaced the starter on the car and it still does it but only when its in the 20's. mid 30 degree weather and up and im not able to replicate the issue.
