I can also vouch for Castrol Edge Titanium. Last time I bought it, it wasn't in the gold bottle. Maybe a label change? Been using it for 10k miles 5w30, since my GTM 1.5 SC and all is well even when outside temps reach 111F.

Im switching to Motul 8100 X-clean on my next oil change.

...oh wait this isn't the thread where we just tell what oil we use.

Use what ever oil you feel happy with. Then when you change oil do a used oil analysis on it to see if the oil is still doing its job well and how your engine is doing. Then based on the numbers in the results stay with that oil or upgrade to something better or change more often.

All these qualitative results given, rough/loud/slow/hot/black etc don't give you any real quantitative data to make a solid decision on.

I agree with all of that but think, for the majority of DDs, UOA is overkill. If you race (or drive real hard), have FI, &c, UOA can be invaluable. For most DDs that only see occasional "spirited" driving, use a high-quality oil/filter (lots of threads on that), check level (with a quick visual/olfactory/feel check on condition) often, change per manufacturer's recommendations (usually very conservative; if you baby the engine, you can go longer), and enjoy. YMMV
