Default Recommended Motor Oil

I tried looking around for what type (not brand) of M-oil can be used for the 370 but havent been able to find any. I'm stuck between 5w-40 and 10w-40, fully synthetic and synthetic respectively. the 10w costs 1/2 as much.

Our climate is always at 25-35c so it never really gets cold here. Does that mean I neednt take the cold rating too seriously, i.e. the 5w, where the 10w-40 will perform just the same when the oil's hot, ie. 40. Correct if im wrong.

Nissan's recommendation is to use an Ester oil, not just some synthetic. It contains particles that work with the coating in the valvetrain to reduce friction. I get mine from the Nissan dealership. Cost me only 10 bucks more for my regular service over normal synthetic.

It very well may be that the Nissan Ester oil is the best for these engines but just because a manufacturer sells something does not mean it is the best. Don't forget that they have a financial reason for selling their oil. As long as you use their oil then they make money. Their only concern is that the engine last past the warranty period and most any good oil would allow the engine to last 36,000. Again, I am not saying that the Nissan Ester oil is not the best but just because they sell it does not mean it is the best..

Before jumping on the whole Nissan Ester oil stuff, my first question to you would be WHAT motor oils (Regular and synthetic) do you have available in your country? Where in ASIA are you? Give us those answers and we'll go from there

im in brunei. we dont have that nissan ester oil (or at least nobody's using it). we've got mostly mobil1, castrol, shell helix, and ranges from synthetic to fully synthetic. most of the workshops including the dealer suggest using the fully synthetic 5w-40. hell they use this oil for every car probably..

wow, Brunei. Very cool. Just use any synthetic that's available to you. YOu'll be fine. Nissan USA only RECOMMENDS the ester oil, it's NOT required.

Just curious, is it true that in your country public transportation and health care are TOTALLY FREE?

no, and no. bus rides are very cheap. and health care at a govt hospital is only cheap if ur a citizen of brunei.

so ur recommending synthetic or fully synthetic AK? i guess ''always go for the best'' for oil..
