New Dyno Results From Momentum Headers

Well finally after having my new Momentum Headers put on I got her tuned again today at Forged Performance. As always it's a busy place so I'm glad the crew could slide me in. Nothing like seeing so many wonderful builds goings on in one place. Love being there.

For a quick run down before I post the dyno sheet. The first time I had my car tuned I had Stillen G3, GTM test pipes, and Greddy TI-C exhaust (silencer removed). Take note that on Forged dyno (dyno dynamics) it reads lower than most dynos. I'll give a reference shortly. Anyways the first tune I put down 292whp with the above mods. Then days later I put 310whp on Z1 Motorsports dyno (dyno jet). So that gives you a reference of the difference.

Well today after installing Momentum Headers and retune we put down 316whp. So that's 24whp since the last tune. So that's a great gain from headers alone. Definitely the best headers on the market and the price makes it that much more pleasent. I have a good feeling that on Z1's dyno it will put down 330whp+. This is about the only mod I've ever done that I've actually felt the power increase.

Good numbers, when would you like to schedule that dyno run :)?

LukasC 12-12-2012 03:34 PM

Nice numbers man! Im making 313 on a dynojet so with those probably 335ish?? Could be worth the money!

How's the sound? I'm going to assume there's a little bit of rasp, but how much?

Hard to say. My car is flat out just loud. Hard to separate the two.

I am really curious how this combo would stack up with my SC.

Hard to say for sure. The stock manifolds do flow great. Be hard to know if there's really much to add when already FI.

Exactly, I think my main plan for my exhaust setup is just throwing on some TP and then getting a retune. I just keep waiting because I want my next tune to include VVEL.

TP's for sure. They always help great. I wouldn't worry about the VVEL so much. The system works great as is. Someone is going to have to go threw trial and error before the VVEL really gets sorted out.

Yeah, and I always wonder if you start messing with that will it really need some other upgrades to benefit which creates the spiral of if I do A then I should do B which leads to C and all the way. :driving:

I'd snatch them up guys. Best bang for the buck. Plus 16lbs of weight savings.

ironhide 12-12-2012 04:39 PM

That's really good I guess I need those headers next my car made 317 with berk hfcs / fi exhaust / rc 2 intakes and johns magic tune . So u should make 330 plus with johns tune

I'd buy them right now if I wasn't worried about rasp. I wish they could fit with my ARK cats :shakes head:

Z1, didn't you guys mention somewhere that you were going to start making some headers like these?

SS_Firehawk 12-12-2012 05:32 PM

Impressive gains on a stingy dyno! CG's :)

We're just going to run it on the dyno without tuning.

That's right. Z1 also has the worlds smallest fan they put in front of the car. :bowrofl:

You will also need 350Z Test Pips for these to work.

Yutnaka 12-12-2012 10:49 PM

Very impressive indeed! Any footage from the dyno? Would like to hear the beast!

b1adesofcha0s 12-12-2012 11:00 PM

So what is different about these headers that allow it to make more HP than something like the FI headers?

These are shorty's... Just like the stock, but apparently larger piping and less/smoother bends?? Although that 3rd pipe looks like a direct 90*.

I'm interested in vids as well.

bullitt5897 12-12-2012 11:12 PM

Chris you need to get the jun cams, Hi Comp Pistons, and a valvejob! ASAP!!! That would easily put you closer to the 350whp mark for sure!!!

Thinking 13:1 compression
Jun Exhaust Cams
Ti Valve upgrade along with a port and polish

No footage. I thought my GoPro was charged but was dead. Course the audio on a GoPro is not great.

There's larger piping with with smooth bends. It also has a nice collector at the end that smooths out the air turbulence where all three tubes come together. Look on YouTube for Momentum headers. There's a great video they made on the construction of these.

Z1 Motorsports. Great guys. Very few left. The company that made them sad to say went out of business and they now have them all.

I bet I could make 350 with just the cams.

mardigras 12-13-2012 07:49 AM

From what I hear there have been no issues with the TT kit as long as the boost is not set too high...

Are you referring to SC kits? TT's use there own turbo manifolds. You can't use headers with them. Or you talking about something totally different?

babbagandu 12-13-2012 09:13 AM

Spohn, what does your exhaust note sound like? Any rasp?

Anyone know if there are good resonated hfc/tp for the 350 that could eliminate rasp with this setup and a non resonated exhaust ?

SPOHN 12-13-2012 09:24 AM

There is rasp. But I always get told how great my car sounds. Always! But sitting inside of it can be a hole different story. But I love it. I'm not picky as most people here are. I'll try and get another sound clip up today when I get off work.

Mike 12-13-2012 09:28 AM

this is what they sound like inside the car with straight pipes and two glasspacks.

As you requested, sound clips. Sorry for the shaking camara. First 30+ sec. are cold startup and the second bit is revving.

^nice!! Doesn't sound that raspy IMO. Definitely not like a civic or anything. Sounds mean

Footloose301 12-13-2012 04:47 PM

How much are these? How much do places typically charge for install?
