If you had $5,000 ....
What would you do to your Z ?
I just got a new 370z sports package and Ive saved 5 grand for future mods. I wanna know what other people would buy with that money and see what the best stuff for my buck would be. Im thinking maybe.. Stillen exhaust Stillen headers Berk hfc *Not sure what suspension setup Pulleys Cams? Gen 3 intake A new set of rims and tires after my current ones need change anyone else know what else i could do? im not very knowledgeable about cars; i just want my car to be as badass as it can get :D Thanks crew, Grant |
I already have...
-BC BR series coilovers -Rear camber arms -Berk HFC's (not installed yet) Deciding on an exhaust and oil cooler next, along with track ready brake pads to swap around for track duty. That isn't quite $5k but this is the path I am taking. I guess if you take into account that I will be getting better tires when the stockers go bald then it would be close to $5k. My 2 cents |
Where can you purchase
-BC BR series coilovers -Rear camber arms :) |

Cool; I'll look into it!
Anyone know any good auto shops to tune at around Houston, TX? |
Just look at the items listed in my signature....plus the labor hours.....and I've already spent a total of $4853.23. Not including the fact the coilovers and the rear fog light are still pending installation so more labor hours @ $99 coming so I'll be exceeding the $5K mark shortly.

Cool man, thanks
What does that grounding kit actually do for the car? |

You are losing horsepower and torque without STILLEN's new Grounding Kits. Today's engine management systems utilize hundreds of sensors and in some cases over 12 onboard computers that constantly monitor all parameters of the engine and powertrain. Installing STILLEN's Grounding Kit ensures that sensors and computers are not affected by power surges that can drain performance. This ensures that all wire diameters are optimal for amperage and current travel distance. These kits feature 8-gauge copper wire, gold plated connectors along with 4-gauge & 8-gauge ring connectors, and are developed specifically for your application. Available in silver or red. These grounding kits will also improve the shifting on automatic transmission vehicles, and in most cases noticeably improve shift times and reduce lag. Direct link: STILLEN : STILLEN Grounding Kit I had it installed just yesterday along with the lightweight pulley and it does seem to shift a bit easier and smoother. As I put more miles on it I'm sure I'll notice more of a difference. Hope this helps! |
Where you get your stuff installed? Just a random place or what
Thats my problem; i dont know where to take my car to get it tuned/dyno'd |

Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the TX area but I bet if you posted a new thread under the Texas section I bet someone will be able to help. I have photos of my car after the upgrade in my profile and also Altered uploaded some pictures here: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...t-install.html |
Import111 what tires would u consider bedda?
|
for 5000 dollars,
i would get HFC's from berk an exhaust from Fast Intentions Inc an intake system and grounding wires also. and a set of headers. that's all i would want, not much left for a new set of rims...lol...or maybe buy used |

As of right now I plan to go with: -Bridgestone RE-11 265/35/19 up front -Nitto NT-05 275/35/19 in the rear |

If I was dropping 5k right now, I would try to find a solid balance between performance and handling. You probably will not be able to go all out for 5k but you can get a solid base going and add more later. |
Whats good for suspension setup for the Z? I was thinking maybe a hotchki suspension kit and some springs (maybe eibach); anyone?
|
if i had 5k i'd sit on it and save up another 5k and get the greddy TT kit:excited:
|
Don't kno much bout the hotchkis tho I do hear great things. But I do kno those
Eibach springs give the car a nice stance n the drop I think is perfect. .09f .08r. Also they barely change ride quality. The z has a pretty good suspension set up. I think a lot of u are changing it up 2 soon. For now... I would jus lower it n put In the sway bars. If u gonna track often? Maybe the nismo size tires and def The oil and tranny cooler. My suggrstion would be in this order. 1. Springs, sway bar, grounding kit 2.oil and tranny diff with oil increase to 5.5qts and bigger diff lube pan 3. Intake headers, exhaust. 4. 8,100rpm reflash when warranty is up. 5. Then get ur suspension done with all the fixins 6. TT or SC intercooled whichever u prefer and if u wanna go there. |

Oh n I forgot. Before the turbos. Put in that new quaife diff. Sorry
|
If cars respond anything like a bike does.. go suspension first.
I did suspension last on my motorcycle and honestly wish i did that first. When I get my Z, thats the route I'll go first. Coilovers, Sways, Arms, etc. Once I thats done, then maybe look at performance stuff like the bolt ons. Although with 5k you can probably do a lot of suspension stuff and bolt ons in one shot so :) |

If they ever offer the size, I'd get Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec's in a heartbeat. Very high dry performance (Kumho Ecsta XS's did better on dry, but did piss-pour wet), excellent wet performance - the only one to do well in both tests, really. |

After driving the 370z I just felt that it holds pretty hard for right now.
Dropping its center gravity imo is going to change its performance too Full bred supercar. .98g iat 72.3 mph is nothing to sneeze at. Lowering the 370 With a firmer sway bar is a potential 1.02g at potential speeds of 74+ mph. I think that you can track that more than great. Maybe wider tires depending How hard you want to drive it? But once that stock suspension can't do it anymore Like as new. Imo then it would be a perfect time to invest top dollar in a new suspension. But to each his own. Maybe you are gonna do time attacks and in that case it might Benefit to change it first. But if u just gonna track it on occasion like most will. I think the drop n sway will prove dramatic improvements in the driving characteristics. |

Would eibach springs + hotchi suspension be a good combonation? I dont want to destroy ride quality but i wanna have some fun with this thing- and not have to worrry about coil overs
