What would be the labor cost to covert to e85?

Chuck33079 10-04-2014 08:23 AM

You'd be paying to swap injectors and possibly the pump. Not a huge issue. Then you need the tune, and that's going to depend on how much your tuner charges and whether you already have the Uprev license. All in would be at least $1500 parts and labor if I had to guess.

On a stock NA car, I'd buy a used intake, cat back and HFCs or test pipes and get tuned for that same $1500 or so. Then I'd start thinking about e85. It's not the first place I'd go for power. It would be something I did after I already ran out of other NA mods.

I'm thinking of getting an exhaust for now.

What is a uprev license for?

My car is assembled tune was roughed in and it made a modest 350hp and 297 ftlbs. Will get the sheets and details up when i get the tunes finalized.

Edit: #midrange beast

Make a build thread! 297 tq is BEAST

You should be able to run more aggressive timing with E85 right? And that should net some sort of gain........I would hope.

bleunetizen 10-05-2014 05:57 PM

I would guess so.. but I could not get the timing to go higher than 31deg in the top end, tried VHR timing, adjusting knock threshold etc, wonder switching to E85 will break that barrier. Uprev does not seem to have figured out how to control the timing like conventional ecu's..

Wow Sweet Gains! :0

Tune really needs to be dialed in was looking at the afr and it was lets say a REALLY rough tune. All kinds of rich. Shout out to Seb want to throw me a deal on a tune?

Asheth 10-06-2014 07:54 PM

This is interesting slow370 is laying the ground work. 350 rwhp is good on a conservative tune looking forward to more results

I sent seb a message we will see if he wants to have a record lol.

I am dropping it off for the week of the 20th with seb then we will get to see what he rings out of it.

Since the tune is so fat I took it to a local track and damn does it pull. Can't wait to get it tuned up. On a down side the nismo front tires suck, my braking distances were horrible, probably could shave a lot of time in the brakes/tires area.

Gonna see if I can't make it to the autoclub speedway test and tune Nov. 2nd to get some testing done as well after the tune.

Has there been any word on E85 sensing firmware flashes for Uprev, ECUTek, or Haltech?

phunk 10-08-2014 04:30 PM

Haltech already supports flex fuel I am like 99% sure... but its not a PnP system for the 370z, you would have to run it in parallel to the stock ECU. Stock ECU would still control the VVEL and the throttles (haltech only has 1 electronic throttle driver)

1slow370 10-08-2014 06:37 PM

yup for our cars you would need something like an aem infinity 10 and hr heads so you have the dual throttle drivers. If you wanted to go full standalone. I know of a vvel delete kit in the works to do it on the vhr heads but there was something about the cam advance not working.

I haven't looked into fuel setups for awhile since my old cars but I did see a DIY walbro 255 install once here and like my old cars, modding of the stock in tank surge tank was needed.

Anyone run the OEM size DW65c? Is it not a direct fit?
