Update: Changed my oil yesterday. Not that we can really go by color...but I can definitely say it wasn't black...I would say...maybe a darker brown color lol.

Sending off my sample today to get tested. We'll see what they say about 6400 mile old oil!

How long does it usually take to get results?

I know I know :) Im in Germany and my mechs laugh out loud mind you, how we p-ss oil down the drain. Modern oils are so strong and durable most here just dont get it.
Example - The current model Porsche Turbo 911 uses Mobil 1 and the dealer doesnt want to see you until 7500miles that's12000 kilometers. New or used doesnt matter. Talk about heat generation in that machine!

My VW dealer says 30,000 kilometers on my new GTI. Using the VW long life oil. I noticed they dont have a yard full of blown engines because of this either....Hmmmmmmm.

In any case folks should do an oil analysis and see where their motor is to begin with and look long and hard at how you actually do drive.

The 3000mile oil change is long dead. Not only that back in the 70's many cars had 6000mil oil changes in the manuals not 3000mi. That was on Dino oil, non synthetic. What was the old phrase about a sucker being born......

:hello:

That's all well and good, but it's meaningless. We are talking about Nissan.

I still change mine at 3750 for that reason, but then it is pretty hard to get them to pay for anything under warranty

Supremee 07-01-2012 11:35 PM

HOLY shiettt. why 7000+? I dont see a reason to cheap out bro, be safe and change it at 3500.. maybe 4000 the most.

Glad you can read. The oils in general are better that before. A car creating high temps like a turbo 911 here in Germany would be breaking down the oil fairly quickly and still the interval for them is 7500miles. The oil they use is Mobil 1 and many 370Z owners here use it. I provided that as a comparison.

Also the Nissan dealers here use a 15000-kilometer service interval for the 370.
SO beyond that have a nice day! Thanks for letting me know I was in a Nissan forum. Fancy that!

Also the dealer here uses German Castrol 5-30 for the 370Z. Its known to be a good oil.

from what I have researched, the full synthetic ie. Mobile One can go the distance. I still don't like going over 5K with it. The ester oils are a good lubricant but are short lived and need to be replaced every 3 like conventional oil

It's nice to see someone like yourself on the forum who actually knows what they are talking about. Too many idiots in here with selective reading (knowledge gained in forums, sheesh) that wouldn't know the difference between a connecting rod and a push rod. But they now own a sports car and magically are smarter than all the engineers on the planet.

There is so much good information out there these days and its easily missed given the sheer volume of data and how rapidly it is disseminated.

Its like asking if you need anesthesia for a filling with some of the folks around cars forums. You just dont need to take the pain(cost/time of needless oil changes) when the tech readily exists to make your life sooooooooooooo much easier! :)

Sure thats rational for the non synth. The RedLine can go much further and we have posted UOA's here showing it.

Sending off tomorrow...should be a couple weeks before I get the report back.

Yes. I can read just fine. You would have been better off with your point by sparing us with "Porsche this, VW that".

Oil analysis is the way to go for anyone wanting to push their oil further. Pretty obvious.
