Shifting 1st gear to 2nd at 7500rpm

Does anyone have a problem shifiting from 1st to 2nd at 7500rpm? To me, it seem like very hard to get to 2nd gear and hard to get it smooth. Am I doing something wrong? Any advices?

The 350 and 370 transmissions have had problems when shifting @ very high rpm from 1st to 2nd. You wouldn't be the first person to bring it up.

I would suggest trying to move your shift closer to 7000 at the most.

i'll try that. thanks for the advice

Only problem I've had shifting at 7500 from 1st to 2nd is my car gets sideways if I try to shift fast :)

Same for 8000rpm as well

For a long time I had the same problem while drag racing. Sometimes it was fine, other times even using BOTH hands would not get it into 2nd. gear. Lost a few trophies because of it:( One dealer said no problem found. After a long & frustrating time I found a dealer that let me power shift, saw the problem & got me a brand NEW (under warrenty)trans. Find a performance friendly dealership:)

Ye, that & I don't live in Cal. Seriously, not making fun but N.Y.S. still has some cool people & much more freedom left.

no offense taken. The weather and awesome canyon roads make it worth it for me. I try not to think about all the negatives

Yes, it's the most beautiful, diversified state in the country. A state where you can go skiing & getting a tan at the beach on the same day. If you could only.... nevermind :icon17:

I read that and just prayed that it is not true... Ever heard the saying, "dont force it!"

haha I know this may seem counter intuitive, but try slowing down your shift a little from 1-2. Shifting like Vin Diesel really wont help your times that much, it is a lot better for times and the car if you are smooth.

TerribleONE 03-28-2012 05:16 PM

granny shiftin, not double clutchin like you should

corbin09 03-28-2012 05:27 PM

Do our cars even make power after 7300ish RPM?

andre12031948 03-28-2012 06:59 PM

don't mean to sound like a d**k but I want to respond

I have an 08 350z with STOCK intake & STOCK exhaust with test pipes. My car has only 280's H.P. yet I hold the 07/08 HR 350z 1/4 mile record at 12.504@110mph. I've done many 12.5's/12.6's at Atco & Raceway Park N.J. I do use slicks, but have done many 12.7's/12.8's without them in summer weather. I also hold the 60' record at 1.69. The main reason for my times has to be my driving. I am bragging BUT there is no other way to say it. I don't shift hard but I can shift faster than you can blink your eyes. There is an older vidoe of me driving with a camera on my helmet, and the other of my tach & shifting. It was not of my fast times but it's worth seeing. Just search andre12031948 & you can check them out.

NO LONGER ON JUST SEARCH - It is however on you tube search - "shifting like Vin Diesel" :)
