For the 7AT, at 125MPH in 4th at 7500 you drop to 5307 in 5th but your transmission torque drops from 863 to 705 even though you are at near peak torque in 5th. Lower gearing always wins unless your torque curve has a large small peak. It's why the NSX is very quick even though it doesn't feel like it. |
That makes sense... I just feel like when I hit around 7.5-7.8k rpm the car really doesnt have that much left in it.. maybe it is just how my car is tuned.
|
I have only redlined a few times. The butt dyno reported that it was pulling all the way to the top. I bounced off the rev limiter trying to get out of a group on 190 near Fort Hood. For some reason people like to ride in packs...............I didn't have any trouble shifting from 1-2 when @ about 7-8k.
|
I also had trouble shifting to 2nd quickly at 6.5-7.5k RPM when at the 1/4 mile. Every other gear it goes smooth as butter and allows shifts much faster. I've driven plenty of high performance cars to know that this is unusal.

I thought i was one of the few with this issue.....but sometimes mine will drop in like butter and other times it wont drop or it will grind when it drops. I was thinkin of having the dealership rebleed the clutch or something....Even at times goin into others gears just doesnt feel as smooth but then it feels smooth as can be at others......But if i double pump the clutch, makes for a smooth shift every time.

I don't have any problem shifting at redline from 1st to 2nd at all. However I don't powershift or aggressively slam the car into gear because that's just abusive, no transmission in a production car is made to take that kind of abuse.
Well, not since the old Muncie 4-speeds, anyway. :D |
Everytime i read your posts my IQ drops to unhealthy levels
