Jun develops their own springs but they don't have listed for the vq37 so either springs are included with the cams or they retain stock springs.

I face one problem when my ecu was damaged, i discover that the US ecu is quite different than the gcc spec. so i ordered the ecu direct from Japan.

I ask JUN company if i can run this cams on a stock engine?

The answer was:
stock ex manifold/ stock catalystic convertor / sport muffler/ high
comp piston / stengthen conrods/
The power was 368ps.

I would like to know, is the high comp piston are stock or no?

and what is the stengthen conrods?

I would like to know that as well, and can i get the springs alone from jun, come on guys the faster i get this info the faster ill do this mod, im contacting jun but not getting much help from them there replies are breife and dont offer much help, please the mechanic guys chime in

Q8y_drifter 03-06-2012 07:30 AM

There's no need for strengthened (ie aftermarket) rods or high compression pistons. I'm guessing they were building a high compression NA VQ37 hence the use of those parts.

Jun's answer all but tells you they've never (successfully) run them on a stock engine.

You can order the springs directly from jun. several of the other components (o rings, etc) are consumables are will need to be ordered.

zuperman 370 03-06-2012 09:20 AM

ok guys seems that ill go ahead with this after all talked to my install guy and he told me that he can install them no problem, just wanted me to ask jun if i can reuse the oem springs or need aftermarket ones, please help me choose the nessasary parts that jun provided us in its list, as soon as i get that answer ill be orderingf them straight away. and also can the car be driven without a tune with these cams?

you should get a tune to get all you can out of the cam!

zuperman 370 03-06-2012 09:31 AM

i iwll be getting an uprev tune ofcourse, but would it damage the car if i drove it for a bit without one.

I believe this would depend upon how aggressive the cams are compared to stock ones. Since I am not well versed on cams, I won't even hazard guess if these are safe to run without a tune or anything else.

zuperman 370 03-06-2012 10:05 AM

I think the aggressiveness is mild 370tune guys where r u I wanna order these from u loool

red6spd 03-06-2012 10:06 AM

Jordo! 03-06-2012 03:57 PM

Neat.

Be sure to get a dyno just before you have the work done for a baseline to compare and contrast

NYBladeZ 03-06-2012 04:01 PM

^^ very important!

Flushnismo 03-06-2012 04:03 PM

yeh me to, you guys think it will make a differance in car sound, and if so how do you think it will change it?

Jordo! 03-07-2012 02:55 AM

I doubt it will change the sound all that much. Idle might be a bit different tho'.

zuperman 370 03-07-2012 03:25 AM

so if i get the pistons and change them along with the cams, will that yeild more HP gains? should i go for the cams alone?

Jordo! 03-07-2012 05:34 AM

You'll definitely get more power out of another point of compression, but that's pretty much a full rebuild if you are taking out the pistons too. You'll have to break the motor in again as well.

NYBladeZ 03-07-2012 09:21 AM

new pistons will require new injectors and a lot of other support work...

Yeah that's what I meant. I'd love to hear an aggressive idle on a 370z :D

I know the stock cam on the 350Z has a duration of 248, but I'm not sure if they changed it for the 370Z.

If you can get away with it, change as little as possible and swap just the cams. The before and after dynos will let us know how much power they are good for. Once you throw in those pistons then part of the power is in the pistons and part of the power is in cams. We need to be able to differenciate one from the other as much as possible.
