I know those Volkswagen commercials advertised they had a fuel safety cutoff at time of impact. Do you have a code reader that you can scan? Even so when the battery was pulled you would think the ECU would reset which leads me to believe it is a physical problem not an ECU one (unless it is some sort of hard coding).
