SZ Updated Clutch & Flywheel Kits
Hi guys
We've updated our new clutch system to use an even lighter flywheel over our original design. Now weighing in at 13 lbs and with a complete assembly weight with clutch and flywheel for 31 lbs. A nice 17 lbs saving. This translates for an even more responsive throttle and engine with much better shifting at high RPM. We also are now using a tried and true Tilton Racing Slave to replace the factory CSC. The complete assemblies are balanced for silky smooth engine balance. http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...etassembly.jpg Max Street Clutch http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...mblyweight.jpg http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...mblyweight.jpg http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...szflywheel.jpg http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...09/szslave.jpg Our Tilton slave includes the adapter plate, hardware, and SS lines. No modifications are needed to bolt the unit in. Very straightforward and simple install. We have three clutch options to choose from. The Max Street which is perfect for the street driver looking to hold over 600 whp and have a super smooth engagement. The Max 6-Puck made for those looking for our smoothest engaging pucked disc with added holding power and ability to take the abuse of drag strip launches. The High 5-Puck uses a solid aluminum un-sprung hub that saves even more weight to help make quicker shifts at high RPMs. If any of you have any questions please ask! Interesting. How much real world testing have you guys done with this setup, especially with the CSC?

We have three different clutches (discs) to choose from. All three will handle forced induction power no problem. The street disc is perfect for someone who daily drives the car for an ultra smooth engagement. Its only downsides is that it doesn't like to get slipped (drag racing). I have customers who still drag race with it but I warn them that if they slip it to much it will glaze the disc and render it useless. The next stage would be the 6-Puck. It uses a sprung hub and is very streetable even with the more aggressive material. It is made for more aggressive driving like drag racing (launches). Life expectancy is about 15,000 to 25,000 miles. Of course any clutch is dependent on the abuse and driver use. The High 5 is the ultimate in racing use. I daily drive my Z with it but it is a little harsher on the engagement. It uses our lightest disc for the best high RPM shifts. let me know if you have any other questions. Seb |

Now THAT is better! That compared to the old unit was why i gave you guys ****. this is how its supposed to be done. also just curious how light is the friction disc on your highest streetable setup if there was one thing with this car i'd want to reduce the weight on the input shaft to ease the synchro's job. support for 500ft/lbs holding capacity

Just for you: http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...8/szstreet.jpg We'll start things off with our modified street disc. Coming in at 3.8 lbs. Perfect for the driver who wants very silky smooth engagements and won't be tearing it up at the drag strip. http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...08/sz6puck.jpg Our 6-Puck comes in just a tad lighter than the street disc. This disc is for those who are mean to the drive-train assaulting it with clutch dumps and high horsepower. http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...08/feramic.jpg Next up is the competitor's feramic disc. This puppy comes in at a heavy weight of 4.6 lbs. Feramic materials were developed for agricultural use (tractors, heavy equipment, etc.) It is heavy duty and also heavy on weight. Not really designed for the sports car enthusiast. Notorious for welding themselves to your flywheel as well. http://specialtyz.com/blog/wp-conten...0/08/szhi5.jpg This brings us to our new 5 Puck disc. Extremely lightweight and nimble. Easy on your trans and gives the driver the much needed high RPM shifting desired without sacrificing transmission internals. A must for the spirited driver looking for no compromises. Our pressure plate that goes with this disc is also lighter. Since it is solid it will have some chatter. |
PM sent, just trying to find out a few things.

I'm going with 5-Puck, don't mind the Chatter :D

So just to clarify. The racing slave and lines come with this kit that listed in your site?
Does the kit come with everything needed for install? Can you please list everything that comes with it if there are other things that were not mentioned like maybe a pilot guide etc etc. Just want to know what $1400 will get me so I know that I'm not missing anything else. |

It comes with the flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, bolts for the pressure plate, CSC (internal slave), plate & hardware for CSC (no modifications necessary to adapt to front trans cover), SS hoses & fittings for the CSC, pilot bushing\bearing, alignment tool, and also anti-seize & lapping compound.

Very interested in this!

If your going to be mainly street driving and want the smoothest engagement the Max Street would be the best choice. It will also be fine for road race applications where high RPM slipping would exist. If you plan to drag race then look no further than the 6-Puck or High-5. The difference between the two is that the 6-Puck still retains the spring pack to lessen vibration and noise through the driveline whereas the High 5 is a solid disc with the sole intention to save weight and improve high RPM shiftabiity due to less drag on the input shaft of the transmission. |
I emailed you (Seb) about this. I'm guessing 6 puck is the way to go because of the noise.
But you let me know :) |
Any pricing on the Slave Cylinder ?
|
do you have a version of the new titon csc that works with the os giken twin plate? i'm getting the twin plate and would like to have a real csc behind it. not sure if the titlon bearing mates correctly to the osg fingers tho.

Six months boosted on my Street Max. Love it!!!!

Hey Seb,
Surely your CSC will work with the Factory reliably in a Non Race / Non Drag situation? ie, DD? Oh wait, it looks to be a different height than the factory one. Now I'm not so sure... |
